Chapter 99 Caring for You
Chapter 99 Caring for You
The news that Lin Chuyue and Gu Yanchuan had officially broken off their engagement was like a pebble thrown into a calm lake. Although it wasn't officially announced, it sparked quiet speculation within the company. In Gu Yanchuan's office, he was organizing documents when Luo Yurou walked in with a cup of coffee and asked softly, "Brother Yanchuan, you look a little tired these past few days. Would you like me to organize these documents for you?"
Gu Yanchuan looked up and saw that it was Luo Yurou. His expression softened a bit: "No need, I can handle these tasks myself. How have you been settling in at the company lately?"
Luo Yurou nodded: "It's good, but I sometimes feel that I lack experience. Fortunately, I have your and other colleagues' guidance." As she spoke, she smiled slightly, her face filled with simple joy.
Gu Yanchuan was silent for a moment, then put down his pen: "Luo Yurou, since you've decided to join the company, remember one thing: no matter what problems you encounter, don't be afraid, just tell me directly."
Upon hearing this, a hint of joy flashed in Luo Yurou's eyes: "Yes, I will!"
Meanwhile, Lin Chuyue sat in her office, holding a board document in her hand, her eyes somewhat unfocused. Since reaching a consensus with Gu Yanchuan to dissolve their engagement, she felt much lighter, but she also vaguely felt that she owed him a clear explanation.
"Chuyue, what are you thinking about?" A deep, magnetic voice interrupted her thoughts. She looked up and saw Li Zhanchuan walk in.
"Why are you here?" Lin Chuyue asked, somewhat surprised. She remembered that Li Zhanchuan had been busy with an overseas investment recently.
"Just passing by, thought I'd drop by." Li Zhanchuan sat down directly on the sofa opposite her, his gaze falling on the documents on her desk, his tone a half-smile, "Looks troubled?"
Lin Chuyue raised her eyebrows: "It's not exactly a problem, it's just that I've been busy lately. But you, when did you learn to care about people?"
Li Zhanchuan raised an eyebrow, leaned back on the sofa, and said lazily, "Don't you think it's only natural to care about you?"
Lin Chuyue was momentarily speechless at his blunt words, her face flushing slightly: "President Li, I remember we were just business partners."
"Partner?" Li Zhanchuan scoffed, staring intently at her. "Lin Chuyue, some things can't be defined however you want."
Lin Chuyue's heart raced under his gaze, but she still managed to keep her composure: "Li Zhanchuan, I don't have time for riddles right now. Tell me quickly, what exactly do you want?"
Li Zhanchuan smiled, stood up, and looked down at her: "It's nothing, I just wanted to remind you that some people and things aren't worth wasting too much of your time on. As for your unnecessary worries..." He leaned closer to her, his voice low, "I'll help you resolve them."
After saying that, he turned and left, leaving Lin Chuyue with a complicated expression.
In Gu Yanchuan's office, he stared blankly at the computer screen, his fingers lightly tapping the desktop, the image of Lin Chuyue appearing before his eyes. He had originally thought his feelings for Lin Chuyue were those of responsibility and kinship, but recently, he had found himself feeling a faint sense of relief and anticipation.
"Brother Yanchuan?" Luo Yurou's voice pulled him back to reality.
Gu Yanchuan turned his head and saw her standing at the door, a hint of doubt in his eyes: "What's wrong?"
"Mom asked me to ask you, will you be going to the family gathering this weekend?" Luo Yurou walked in, her tone gentle.
Gu Yanchuan nodded: "Of course I will go."
Luo Yurou smiled and said, "That's great! Then I can tell my uncle and aunt about it. They've been talking about you a lot lately."
Looking into Luo Yurou's clear eyes, Gu Yanchuan felt a little relieved, but Lin Chuyue's image still involuntarily surfaced in his mind. He shook his head to himself and murmured, "It seems that some things really should be let go."
