Chapter 278 Late-night Fried Rice Noodles

Chapter 278 Late-night Fried Rice Noodles

After several long hours of flight, I finally arrived at the Ceres Space Station. As the hatch slowly opened, a gust of slightly hot air hit me, as if Ceres were warmly welcoming me. I frowned slightly and shed my heavy coat, feeling the stark difference in temperature from my departure point.

It's November now, but Ceres' climate is vastly different from Snow's. Snow has already entered winter, with daytime highs hovering around 11°C and nights plummeting to a chilly 10°C. In contrast, Ceres maintains a comfortable 3°C even at night—a truly delightful experience.

Just as I was exiting the space station, I spotted the hovercar I'd reserved via the spacecraft's computer, parked steadily in front of me. Such precise timing made me marvel at the convenience brought by technology. Without hesitation, I quickly boarded the hovercar. With a gentle hum, it sped off towards home like an arrow.

As I trudged into my home, the clock on the wall struck 2: AM. My body felt drained of all its strength, and a wave of exhaustion washed over me. Just as I was about to collapse into bed for some rest, my stomach growled. It was my stomach protesting its emptiness, telling me it desperately needed food.

Even though my body felt like it had been hammered, with every muscle screaming with fatigue and soreness, I couldn't ignore the hunger that was constantly gnawed at my stomach. It was like a ferocious beast, torturing me with its fangs and claws, making it almost unbearable for me to endure the pain.

So, I used up the last bit of my strength, holding up my body that seemed to be about to collapse at any moment, slowly raised my hands, and gently placed the things I was holding tightly in my hands by the door. After doing all this, I took a deep breath, dragged my heavy feet, and staggered towards the kitchen like a drunk.

When I finally reached the kitchen, I couldn't wait to open the refrigerator door as if I had found a lifeline. However, the scene before me instantly sank my heart - the refrigerator was completely empty. Apart from a few bottles of drinks and some seasonings, there wasn't much to choose from.

Looking back on this week-long vacation, since I wasn't home, I essentially stopped buying vegetables, meat, and other groceries in the days leading up to my departure. I figured since I'd be away for a while anyway, I might as well clear out the existing fridge to avoid wasting food. While today's interstellar refrigerators boast superior freshness-preserving capabilities, allowing food to remain fresh for extended periods, I've always made it a habit to buy only small quantities at a time to ensure my fridge is stocked with the freshest food.

Standing in front of the empty refrigerator, I pondered for a long time, countless delicious images flashing through my mind. After a fierce ideological struggle, I finally made up my mind to make myself a simple and delicious fried rice noodles to fill my stomach.

I slowly walked to the kitchen, opened the cupboard door, and scanned the dazzling array of ingredients inside. After searching for a while, I finally found an unopened package of rice noodles. It lay quietly in the corner, as if waiting to be given new life by my skillful hands.

Next, I pulled some fresh vegetables and a few plump, smooth eggs from the refrigerator as side dishes. Once everything was ready, I lit the stove and placed the wok over the roaring flame. Once the wok began to warm slightly, I carefully poured in a suitable amount of crystal-clear cooking oil.

As the oil heats up, I gently pick up the bowl and pour the beaten egg slowly along the edge of the wok. With a sizzling sound, the egg quickly absorbs the heat and solidifies into a golden omelet. With deft, quick and gentle stir-frying, I expertly grasp the spatula. In a few moments, the golden omelet is broken into small pieces, which I then place on a plate to the side.

Next, it was time for the evenly chopped pork. Without hesitation, I tossed them into the already scalding pot. With a crackling sound, the high flame instantly enveloped the pork, stirring it to its full potential. Soon, the pork shreds took on an alluring color and exuded a captivating aroma. I quickly tossed the previously chopped vegetables into the pot as well. They danced joyfully under the intense heat, intertwining and blending seamlessly.

Not long after, waves of rich fragrance hit me in the face and went straight into my nasal cavity, making my saliva flow. It was simply mouth-watering!

With my enthusiasm still bubbling, I quickly grabbed the rice noodles, which had been softened by soaking in water, and threw them into the wok. Then, I used the spatula to perfectly blend the rice noodles with the freshly fried eggs, the juicy shredded pork, and the colorful shredded vegetables.

Next, I added a spoonful of bright red fermented chili pepper (I believe it's essential for stir-fried rice noodles to be truly soulful), along with appropriate amounts of salt, light soy sauce, and dark soy sauce. As soon as these seasonings entered the wok, they worked like magic, instantly invigorating the aroma. I constantly stirred the food, ensuring that each strand of rice noodle absorbed the essence and unique flavor of the seasoning.

Finally, all the steps are nearing completion. I pour the scrambled eggs back into the pan, sprinkle in a handful of tender green chives, and stir-fry briefly. Suddenly, the color of the dish becomes even more vibrant and eye-catching, and the aromas of the various ingredients blend seamlessly.

Just like that, a plate of fried rice noodles with good color, aroma and taste was successfully prepared by me!

I gently picked up the bowl of steaming fried rice noodles and carefully placed it on the dining table. Looking at this bowl of delicious food, my mouth began to water uncontrollably.

Finally, unable to contain my craving, I plopped down on a chair, picked up my chopsticks, and began devouring like a hungry tiger. The smooth, delicious rice noodles seemed to come alive, dancing joyfully in my mouth. Each strand was cooked to perfection, retaining a firmness that melted in my mouth.

Looking at the side dishes, the incredibly tender egg resembles a piece of golden silk, its delicateness and smoothness palpable with a gentle touch; while the juicy, crisp, and refreshing vegetables are like a group of elves, adding a touch of freshness and vitality to the whole bowl of fried rice noodles. Together, they form a mouth-watering delicacy.

I chewed heartily, savoring the delicious flavor. One bite after another, I couldn't stop. Before long, the once overflowing bowl of fried rice noodles was empty. I licked my lips, still unsatisfied, and burped loudly with contentment.

Putting down my chopsticks, I slowly stood up and stretched. Although I still felt a little tired, my mood was extremely happy. I slowly cleared the table and walked towards the kitchen with a slightly heavy step.

Back in the living room, I dragged my legs, feeling like they were filled with lead, step by step, arduously towards the bedroom. Finally reaching the bed, I collapsed like a deflated ball. The soft, large bed enveloped me like a giant cloud, gently enveloping me. I closed my eyes, feeling the comforting support of the mattress, and my thoughts gradually drifted away.

After a while, sleepiness came over me like a tide, and I fell into a deep sleep, entering a sweet dream...
