Chapter 139 Bad Luck
Chapter 139 Bad Luck
Last time, we talked about how Monk Shuyi wanted to teach Li Yi the magic bag mantra. So what is this magic bag mantra? Let's read on.
The cloth bag mantra was created by the cloth bag arhat. The real name of the cloth bag arhat was Injietuo. He was originally a snake catcher, and the cloth bag was used to catch and hold snakes. He had two magic weapons, one was a snake bag and the other was a snake-beating staff. The names sounded good, but in fact they were just a rag bag and a broken stick. But don't underestimate these two magic weapons, each has its own magic!
Let’s talk about the snake-beating staff first. From the appearance, it is just a branch that is thick at the top and thin at the bottom. There are no special patterns or reliefs. The only thing that makes sense is the knot on the top of the staff that looks like a snake’s head.
According to his life experience, Budai Luohan combined this snake-beating staff to create two kinds of skills, Snake Fighting Skill and Seven-Inch Slash. Snake Fighting Skill is a spell that attacks on the mental level, first making the opponent irritable and uneasy, and then taking advantage of the opponent's negligence to control the opponent's mind, forcing the opponent to attack, dodge or move according to one's own ideas; and the Seven-Inch Slash is a martial arts skill, as the name suggests, it attacks the throat or weak points.
Next, let's talk about the snake bag. The blackened edge and many small holes on the sack show that it has experienced many battles. This snake bag is indeed the most proud magic weapon of the cloth bag arhat. The cloth bag arhat created three magics with the snake bag. The simplest one is the Qiankun bag for storage;
The second is the art of refining poison. As a snake catcher, he naturally has to deal with poisonous snakes frequently, and it is inevitable that he will be bitten. That is why Budai Luohan came up with this art of refining poison, which can both detoxify and poison. However, Buddhism is based on compassion, so his poison is not fatal, but only a means of paralyzing and making people faint.
The last one is the Snake Bag's ultimate move, the Shaman Bag Technique. This is very powerful. When used together with the Snake Fighting Technique, you can lure the opponent into the Snake Bag and seal it. It is a spell that combines traps, illusions, and sealing techniques together.
Monk Shuyi certainly would not pass on his master Budai Luohan's secret method to Li Yi. He concentrated on the Buddhist teachings and chanted: "I have a cloth bag, which is free from all worries. Open it and you can see the world in all directions. You can see the world at any time."
Then he reached into the snake bag and pulled out the snake-beating staff. Li Yi clapped his hands and shouted, "Wow! Awesome! Isn't this a storage magic weapon? This is so useful! Brother, how much can this method store?"
Shuyi smiled and said, "It is empty and has no form or substance, and is empty without any obstacles, so it is called the void. This void is created by the mind, so the size of the mind determines the size of the void in this bag."
Li Yi looked at the sack in his hand that originally belonged to Shuyi and asked, "Can living things be put in it?"
Shuyi smiled and said, "Those who have a mind will not enter the void."
Li Yi said, "Oh, that means it can't be loaded, but if it can hold things, it's quite useful!"
Shuyi only said half of his words. You have to know that the Shaman bag technique of this snake bag can be used to fight against the enemy. It just uses sealing technique to seal the opponent's heart and then put it into the bag. Li Yi is not a disciple of the Bag Arhat, so Shuyi will naturally not teach him everything he knows.
Li Yi chanted the cloth bag mantra and then reached into the sack. He felt nothing but emptiness. He took his hand back and said with a smile, "This is a wonderful method! Brother Shuyi, there is nothing else in your sack except this string of beads."
Shuyi put his hands together and said with a smile: "I will give the rosary to my junior brother Xiuyuan, so that I can return to the right path. There is nothing in the first place, so where can I get involved in the dust?"
Li Yi was surprised and asked, "Bodhisattva? Where did you hear this, brother?"
Shuyi looked at a jade statue of Guanyin in the meditation room. Li Yi nodded and smiled, then bowed and said, "So that's how it is. Thank you, Guanyin Bodhisattva!"
Shuyi smiled and said: "Come, Xiuyuan, I will teach you a method to detoxify, which can cure all poisons in the world!" Shuyi taught Li Yi the cloth bag spell, which was a part of the poison refining technique. He did not teach Li Yi the method of poisoning.
After Li Yi learned it, he bowed again to express his gratitude. Shuyi smiled and said, "Junior brother, you just asked me to help you get rid of the two donors outside. Now put your hand into the bag and feel around."
Li Yi chanted the cloth bag spell and then reached his hand in, but still only touched nothingness. When he was wondering, he was suddenly sucked in, and the sack closed and sealed by itself and returned to Shuyi's hand.
Shuyi took the sack in his hand, stood up, opened the door and walked out. Chen Mo and Wang Xiao immediately stepped forward to ask where Li Yi was. Shuyi shook the sack in his hand and said with a smile: "I put Xiuyuan in this bag."
The two looked puzzled. Chen Mo said, "Master Shuyi, please don't joke like that. How can such a big person fit into such a small bag?"
Shuyi replied, "Amitabha, monks do not tell lies. How could I deceive you two donors? If you don't believe me, take a look for yourselves." As he said that, he handed the bag to the two men.
Wang Xiao took the bag and opened it. There was only a paper man inside with Li Yi's name written on it. He took out the paper man, shook it and said, "Master Shuyi, you are joking too much! Is this the Li Yi you are talking about?"
Shuyi nodded and said, "That's right!"
Chen Mo shook his head, put the paper man back into the bag, handed it back to Shuyi and said, "Master, we two were also ordered by King Shouyang to protect Li Yuefu's safety! Now he is missing, how can we report to him?"
Shuyi loosened his bag and said with a smile: "Didn't I hand over Junior Brother Xiuyuan to you? That's the Li Yuefu you mentioned."
Wang Xiao bowed and said, "Master, please, please show us two brothers a way out! At least let us hand in this mission. If we take this paper man back and tell the King of Shouyang that this is Li Yuefu, do you think he will believe it?"
Shuyi said helplessly: "If you insist on concluding that this paper figure is not Junior Brother Xiuyuan, then I can't help it. But according to your understanding, Junior Brother Xiuyuan is no longer here, and I don't know where he went."
The two were about to ask questions when Shuyi held out his hand to stop them, saying, "How about this, in order to get your mission accomplished, you go back and tell King Shouyang that it was me who let Xiuyuan go, and that he was going to visit a great monk from India. If King Shouyang blames you, you can just push the blame onto me."
Wang Xiao asked, "Master Shuyi, did you really let Li Yuefu go?"
Shuyi nodded and said, "Yes, my junior brother asked me for help, how can I not help? You should go and report back quickly!" Chen Wang and the other two sighed and left helplessly.
Shuyi called a novice monk and said, "Throw this bag into the river."
The young monk was surprised and asked, "Abbot, isn't this the cloth bag you always carry with you? Why did you throw it away? Isn't this the bag that you value most?"
Shuyi smiled and said, "Just throw it away. Who can pick it up depends on luck." Shuyi waved his hand, and the little monk took the order and left. He came to the Huai River and threw the sack into the river. He watched it drift away before returning to the temple to report.
It is said that the sack floated downstream along the Huai River. Some fish and shrimp tried to drag the bag into the water but failed; a fisherman picked it up, but saw that it was a torn bag and threw it back; a woman who was washing clothes by the river found the sack, opened it and saw the paper man inside, so she was scared and threw it back; until the sack floated to the shore of Fuling Lake and was picked up by a little boy.
The little boy opened the sack and saw the paper man and was surprised, "Why is there a paper man in this bag? Why is this paper man dry? Is this paper man not afraid of water?" As he said that, he threw the paper man into the water. Suddenly, a golden light came out from the mouth of the sack, and Li Yi jumped out of the sack. The little boy was so scared that he fell into the water and his pants were wet.
Li Yi stretched lazily and said, "Finally I got out. Didn't Senior Brother Shuyi say that this bag can't hold things with a heart? Then how did he put me in? He wouldn't lie to me. There must be other ways to collect people in this bag spell that he didn't teach me."
Li Yi looked at the little boy sitting on the ground and said with a smile: "Thank you, little boy. Give the bag back to me." As he said that, he reached out to take the sack from the little boy's hand. The boy's face turned pale and he threw the sack away, shouting: "Monster!" and then ran away.
Li Yi looked at the child's back, and the righteous energy in his body suddenly reacted. He wondered, "What's going on? Why would a child make the righteous energy restless?" He immediately used the Qi-gazing technique to look at the little boy, only to see that black energy was constantly emanating from the child's body!
Li Yi muttered, "Dark air? What's going on? Hiss, no matter how you look at it, this kid has helped me. I can't pretend I didn't see it. I'd better go and take a look." Just like that, Li Yi followed the little boy from a distance. The little boy was so scared that he didn't even dare to look back. He ran all the way home, but when he reached the door of his house, he was stunned because the whole village had gathered outside his yard.
The little boy finally squeezed in, and saw He Wu, the Hu family's secretary, standing in the middle of the yard, sitting on a stone pier and stepping on his father's head; his mother knelt at He Wu's feet and kowtowed repeatedly; two servants were rummaging around for something, two servants were pulling his sister, and two servants were beating his second brother. The little boy yelled and rushed towards the servant who was beating his second brother, but was kicked away, and groaned on the ground, holding his stomach.
No one could stand this situation, and Li Yi was no exception. He jumped into the yard, helped the little boy up, and shouted in a Confucian way: "Stop it!"
Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at him. He Wu looked at Li Yi as he stood up and said, "From the way he is dressed, he looks like a young master. I wonder if you have any advice for me?"
Li Yi asked: "What did this family do wrong? Why did you beat them?"
He Wu smiled and said, "It is only natural to pay back debts. If I don't have money to pay back the debt, why can't I use his daughter to pay off the debt?"
The boy's mother saw that Li Yi's move was like grabbing a life-saving straw. She immediately knelt down beside Li Yi, hugged his thighs and begged: "My lord, please have mercy on my daughter. She is only fourteen years old! We just found a marriage for her, and she is about to get married! Please save her!"
Li Yi reached out his hand to help the woman up but she refused to get up. So he asked, "What is the money your family owes? How much do you owe?"
He Wu laughed and said, "The Yu family owes a population tax, three taels for six people!"
The woman cried, "Manager He, there are only five people in my family now! You know that my eldest son died of illness two years ago! We have finally collected this money, and we don't even have money to buy our daughter's dowry!"
He Wu waved his hand and said, "The government's household registration shows that there are six people in your family, and we paid for six people! Can you let me pay for the money that's missing now?"
Li Yi said, "After all, it's just five cents of silver. I paid for them!"
He Wu smiled and said, "Okay, then please pay for it, sir."
Li Yi reached out from his sleeve pocket and took out a piece of silver and threw it over. He Wu took the silver, weighed it, and said with a smile: "Old Yu, your family is lucky today. We met a noble person. Let's go!"
After hearing this, the servants returned to He Wu one after another. He Wu bowed to Li Yi and said with a smile, "Thank you very much, young master. See you again if we are lucky enough!"
"and many more!"
Li Yi called He Wu, who turned around and asked, "Sir, do you have any other advice?"
Li Yi stretched out his hand and said, "He only owes five cents of silver. I'll give you three ounces. Give me the change!"
He Wu put on an expression as if he couldn't believe his ears, looked at the servants behind him and said with a smile: "Did you hear what he said? He said he gave me three taels of silver, how could he lie with his eyes open? He clearly only gave me five cents of silver, right?"
All the servants immediately echoed, "That's right! That's right!"
He Wu looked at Li Yi with amusement and asked, "Sir, what you did is not fair. If you have money, you should be more generous. If you don't have money, don't be so aggressive! You just gave me five cents of silver and asked me to make the change. Are you trying to blackmail me? That's unfortunate. I can't stand this kind of anger. If you dare to blackmail me, I will have to take you to the government for questioning!"
