Chapter 1792: The Warrior and the Assassins (Part 2)

After Sano and Natta revealed their Nexuses, the course of their battle was supposed to change.

However, that wasn’t the case at all.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

For the past few minutes, Sano and Natta had been actively attacking Adam in an attempt to inflict wounds on him, at least as severe as the ones he had inflicted on them.

But it was to no avail.

Moreover, all Adam needed to hold them off was his body alone. His strength and speed were enough to dodge and block their attacks.

Silvana, who was watching the fight, didn’t allow herself to celebrate prematurely. Instead, she carefully analyzed the battle.

Before, she had done this to gather more information and, if necessary, help Adam with the data, but now she had other intentions.

She knew that if Adam could become stronger, she would someday have to become his Nexus, just as Arika had done for Goen.

’If I am his weapon... No, if I am his battle partner, then I must know how to fight on the front lines. Think, Silvana, why can’t they hurt Adam? What are they using to defeat him?’

Her eyes fell on Natta, who was playing the support role in this battle. She was firing blood shots at Adam from a distance and using her jaw tongues to slow him down or grab him.

However, all of this was useless because Adam was faster and stronger.

"Tsk." Natta clicked her tongue when she failed yet again to grab Adam.

Adam shot her a cold look as his frame trembled.

Step.

In a heartbeat, Adam appeared in front of Natta, reaching his hand toward her face. As soon as the tips of his fingers touched her head, it would all be over for her. She was unlikely to die, but Xyrea’s armor would activate and protect her, which would mean her defeat.

"NO!" Sano exclaimed before reaching out her hand.

The light condensed before her palm before bursting forth as a destructive ray.

This was what Adam had been waiting for.

Whooooosh!

The invisible blade sliced through the air before crashing into the light ray.

Sano’s eyes widened as two more blades loomed over her.

"What the hell...?"

The imaginary blades began spinning rapidly before descending upon her at tremendous speed.

Acting on instinct, Sano took a step back and parried the blades.

Crack.

With a swing of her sword, she sliced through the second imaginary blade as the fragments flew past her eyes. A figure all too familiar to her was reflected in one of the fragments, causing her pupils to shrink.

"Hey, it seems you have no idea what your opponent is capable of, do you?" Adam’s voice rang out as the black needle appeared in his hand.

Sano clenched her jaw, swinging her sword as fast as she could, but it still wasn’t enough.

SLASH!

In a black flash, Adam’s needle pierced through Sano’s shoulder, severing her left arm.

For an inexperienced fighter, such a wound would have been the end. Someone else in Sano’s place would have started to panic or been distracted by the pain, but not her. Throughout her journey, she had sustained more serious wounds and endured far greater pain than this.

This was nothing compared to the thought that Adam still didn’t see her as a worthy opponent, even though it was a 2-on-1 fight and they had Xyrea’s armor!

"Alright, you asked for this!!!" Sano exclaimed as a light flame burst from her in a destructive blast.

Her energy surged into her sword, causing her weapon to transform.

Adam didn’t know what was about to happen, so he decided to retreat. He was seeing the Monster Nexus for the first time and had to proceed cautiously if he wanted to win.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Cracks appeared on Sano’s sword as swollen flesh began to grow between them. The two blades of her sword widened, moving further apart to make room for the teeth, which grew longer and began to curve like those of a monster in a nightmare.

But what made Adam frown was something else.

Now, with more space at the hilt, a trembling, black orb appeared there. It wasn’t solid like a material, but it resembled the Dark Energy, though it wasn’t it. Adam could sense this because he had a real one, in his inner space.

"What is this?" Adam thought, staring intently at Sano’s sword.

He tried to peer deeper into the black orb. He was driven by curiosity, for the Monster Nexuses concealed far more than just a terrifying appearance compared to other weapons.

Whooooosh!

For a moment, a silhouette was reflected in the black orb. Adam couldn’t tell who or what it was, but it was definitely a figure and not just a random burst of energy.

"Look here!" Sano roared like a wild beast, forcing Adam to look up.

At the same moment, her sword trembled as a dense, searing light burst forth from it, growing denser as it approached the final fangs at the blade’s tip.

’This... Is she going to blow everything up here?’ Adam thought to himself, but Sano acted too quickly for him to comprehend her attack.

SLASH!

Sano swung her sword, releasing all her accumulated energy in a single swing.

It wasn’t just an energy blade, but a destructive wave containing dozens of dark jaws contrasting with the light.

Natta, who knew this attack well, stepped aside until her hand touched the stone wall.

"What are you going to do now, Adam? You don’t know this, but it’s impossible to dodge this attack. All you can do is..."

Before Natta’s thought could finish, a powerful stream of darkness burst from Adam as his needle was reflected in Natta’s eyes.

Step.

With Adam’s next step, his frame trembled as he surged forward at a speed impossible for the two of them.

The darkness emanating from his needle shattered Sano’s light wave, leaving not even a tiny fragment of it behind.

"Agh...?"

Sano’s eyes widened in shock as Evan was already right in front of her and his needle was ready to turn her into nothing.

Tap.

Suddenly, someone’s hand clamped around Adam’s needle, stopping him.

"Well, I think that’s enough."

Gladius smiled at Adam.
