Chapter 275: The Blue Demon?
Chapter 275: The Blue Demon?
The entire half-collapsed skyscraper came crashing down atop him and th3 impact shook multiple city blocks.
Dust swallowed everything causing silence to follow briefly.
After the rubble slowly settled, Darius landed heavily nearby.
He looked terrible now, bleeding intensely and bruised with several broken protrusions stuck out awkwardly from his body.
However, he was smiling because he could see West crushed beneath mountains of debris with only his head partially visible between broken concrete slabs.
West looked horribly injured with blood covering him.
Darius slowly walked forward laughing.
"In the end..." he coughed blood lightly. "...you’re just another traumatized fool."
His eyes glowed darkly. "There was never any way you’d beat someone like me."
Spikes erupted from the rubble again.
SHLKKK~
SHLKKK~
SHLKKK~
They pierced through West’s limbs and torso before raising him upward slowly like a crucified messiah suspended amidst destruction.
Blood dripped steadily down the spikes while Darius stepped closer.
"You know why people like me survive?" He formed another massive protrusion from his wrist. "Because I’m willing to sacrifice anything."
The spike elongated further as he continued. "...and anyone to come out victorious."
Then he shot toward murderously fast while thrusting his spiked arm directly toward West’s heart.
The spike was only inches from piercing through West’s skin, when his head snapped downward suddenly.
WHOOSH~
CHOMP!
His glowing fangs bit directly into the incoming spike causing the hardened protrusion to splinter and burst into fragments.
CRRRRACK~
Darius’ eyes widened but before he could even salvage the situation, one of West’s arm violently ripped free from the spikes impaling him.
Blood sprayed everywhere as he reached forth faster than the blink of an eye and grabbed the back of Darius’ neck...
He yanked him forward and bit directly into his neck.
"AAARRRGHHHHHH!"
Darius screamed as West’s fangs sunk into his neck.
A burning sensation that was both cold and freezing engulfed his entire body as something entered his bloodstream from West’s Fang...
[ Voidfang Venom Implemented ]
Darius’s body instantly froze as strength left his limbs.
He fell backward from the air completely paralyzed.
However, the true horror was in his mind...
Hallucinations exploded through his consciousness as he saw himself dying again and again and again, in brutal and agonising ways.
Torn apart... burned alive... drowned in spikes... eaten... crushed... mutilated...
Millions of deaths overlapped endlessly as he screamed while falling.
West simply licked the blood at the corner of his mouth thoughtfully. "Hm."
The glowing markings across his transformed body throbbed softly while he calmly snapped the remaining spikes restraining him.
He dropped lightly beside Darius’ twitching body.
The Tier 2 awakened lay there completely unresponsive with his eyes widened in terror while trapped within the venom-induced nightmare.
West stepped onto the ground and dark spikes suddenly erupted beneath Darius again, lifting him upward into the air.
West stared at him quietly. "Your power isn’t bad..."
He tilted his head slightly. "Too bad it only lasts as long as your blood remains in my system."
West could feel that the siphoned power from Darius’ bloodline was fading gradually but he didn’t mind because he only wanted to infuse him with the Venom
.
"Oh well," he exhaled lightly. "No time to dilly dally."
He grabbed Darius by the neck effortlessly and then vanished as blue glowing footprints appeared across the ruined district one after another before disappearing into the distance.
Minutes later, sirens finally reached the scene.
News helicopters cautiously approached again, police barriers surrounded the destroyed district and reporters stood in shock while staring at the devastation.
Entire skyscraper sections had collapsed, roads were destroyed and buildings had been pierced through by monstrous black spikes.
Yet somehow, civilian casualties remained shockingly low.
One reporter stared blankly at the destruction.
"This..." her voice trembled slightly. "...what kind of monsters fought here?"
~ Three Days Later ~
Misty High City was still reeling from the catastrophe.
The battle between the two Tier 2 monsters had become the single biggest topic across every platform imaginable.
News channels, forums, private awakened networks, social media and underground gang chats...
Everywhere people turned, they saw footage of collapsing skyscrapers, black spikes tearing through buildings, blue flashes streaking across the skyline, and the horrifying aftermath left behind.
The district where the battle occurred remained partially quarantined with entire roads closed.
Construction crews worked nonstop, insurance companies were collapsing under claims and awakened criticism had once again risen to terrifying levels.
"This is exactly why awakeners can’t be trusted!"
"They’re monsters!"
"They fight and regular people suffer!"
"How many billions in damages were caused?!"
Yet even while outrage spread, fear spread faster because who exactly could hold awakeners accountable? Especially Tier 2 awakeners.
Tier 2s were not common... out of the tens of thousands of awakeners active within Misty High City, only around sixty were officially known to have reached Tier 2.
This made the recent battle all the more terrifying because although one combatant was eventually been identified, the other remained completely unknown and that fact disturbed people deeply.
The footage recovered from nearby cameras and drones never clearly captured the second fighter...
Only flashes, blurred afterimages, glowing footprints, blue streaks and fragments of monstrous transformations were visible.
It was almost as if the mysterious awakened intentionally avoided being identified.
News broke as one of the combatants was confirmed to be none other than Darius Bentley.
A high-ranking executive of the powerful Eagles Print gang.
The revelation exploded online instantly.
"No wonder the city got destroyed..."
"Darius Bentley was involved?!"
"But who was the other guy?"
"No Tier 2 in Misty High uses abilities like that..."
"Could it be a foreign awakened?"
"Or someone newly evolved?"
Speculation spread endlessly..
Some theories became increasingly ridiculous and people even started making up nicknames for the unknown fighter.
"The Phantom Tier 2."
"The Blue Demon."
"The Footstep Reaper."
Nobody knew the truth even from the awakened community itself.
The strangest part was a few civilian testimonies... because amidst the destruction and panic... multiple people claimed the unknown awakened had actually saved them.
"He rescued my daughter."
"I swear he appeared out of nowhere."
"He saved my baby."
"He kept moving everywhere..."
"He could’ve ignored us but he didn’t."
This created even more confusion because Darius Bentley already had a brutal, violent and harsh reputation.
He was ruthless during territorial conflicts but the unknown awakened? People weren’t sure what to think anymore.
- "Is he some kind of awakened hero?"
- "An awakened who actually cares?"
Still, the biggest question remained unanswered... Who won?
It had been confirmed that Darius Bentley completely disappeared afterward.
There were no hospital records or sightings or appearances at Eagles Print.
And the longer he remained missing, the more people began assuming that the unknown Tier 2 had won.
That idea alone shook the awakened world because Darius Bentley was not weak.
He was a veteran Tier 2 with decades of combat experience.
If he truly died, then a new monster had appeared within Misty High and no one knew who it was.

Five days after the battle, mourning filled the Bentley household.
The atmosphere there felt unbearably heavy and ghe massive mansion that once echoed with family warmth now felt cold and hollow.
Silent conversations and forced condolences spread as high-ranking Eagles Print members gathered throughout the estate trying to support Yelena and the children.
Because earlier that morning, two severed arms belonging to Darius Bentley had arrived at Eagles Print’s official headquarters.
There was no body or explanation.
Just the grotesque confirmation that their executive was gone.
Yelena completely broke down after hearing it. "It can’t be true..."
Her voice cracked endlessly between sobs. "No... no no no..."
Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face while several women from Eagles Print tried comforting her.
Surprisingly, the person closest to her at this moment, was West.
West sat directly beside her on the luxurious couch inside the mourning hall with one arm around her shoulders and the other rubbing gently along her back as she cried helplessly against his chest.
His expression looked perfectly sorrowful, sympathetic and believable.
"You need to stay strong..." he spoke with a soft and calm voice. "The children still need you."
Yelena trembled violently while West gently held her tighter.
"Darius protected you all with his final breath."
That line immediately caused several Eagles Print members nearby to look toward him in confusion.
West lowered his head slightly. "The threat..."
He let out a soft sigh before adding. "...came for the family."
Yelena cried harder instantly while West continued patting her back.
"But he stopped it," West’s expression darkened slightly like recalling trauma.
"I tried helping..." he shook his head faintly. "...but I simply wasn’t strong enough."
His voice sounded painfully genuine and the unsuspecting Yelena buried her face deeper into his chest while sobbing uncontrollably.
"Thank you..." her voice broke repeatedly. "Thank you for trying..."
West slowly stroked her blonde hair. "You don’t have to thank me."
Several Eagles Print members exchanged glances nearby with confusion expressions.
Who exactly was this young man?
