Chapter 246 I am a lawyer
Chapter 246 I am a lawyer
No parent in the world would not want their child to be healthy.
Siyi is just an ordinary person; in fact, she only needed one child back then.
But fate gave her two, and when she was overjoyed, she realized that this was not perfection, but a flaw.
But even with her flaws, she still cherishes them dearly.
Tian Tian was born without hearing in her right ear; she can only hear what others are saying with her left ear.
Perhaps because of this, Siyi dotes on this daughter even more, treating her like her own precious darling.
Xiaotian was already scribbling on the paper with the pen in hand, then handed it to Siyi and made a few hand gestures to her.
Siyi had already learned sign language, so she could understand it.
Tian Tian said to her, "Mom, the teacher asked us to draw a family portrait. Did you draw it well?"
Siyi gave her daughter a thumbs up and deliberately leaned close to her left ear as she spoke, "You drew very well, baby. Let's go out to eat now. Mommy bought your favorite dishes today. How about you and your brother help Mommy wash the vegetables later?"
Tian Tian nodded happily.
Upon leaving the room, they saw that Zheng Muyan and Beibei had turned the kitchen into a battlefield.
However, Siyi knew that Zheng Muyan was a good cook, but her son was a real troublemaker. He had been active since he was a child, and every time he entered the kitchen, he would break several bowls. It was two hours later before they finished making dinner.
The two little ones each brought out a bowl of rice. Siyi and Zheng Muyan sat opposite each other. After the meal, Siyi urged the two little ones to take a bath. It was like a battle again. However, today, Zheng Muyan was in charge of Beibei. It was already two hours later when everything was done.
After putting the two children to sleep, Siyi stepped out of the room and saw Zheng Muyan holding his coat, preparing to leave. He smiled at her as he saw her and said, "It's almost time, so I'll head back now. I have a case to go to court for tomorrow, so I need to go back and prepare. I'll come see you again next week."
There was a faint scar on his face. Although it wasn't very noticeable, it reminded Siyi of how he had risked his life to protect her and their child.
"Senior brother, you don't actually need to come every week, it's too much trouble."
It takes two hours to drive from here to S City, which is really inconvenient.
Zheng Muyan's eyes darkened upon hearing this, but he didn't say anything more. He simply reached out and patted her shoulder. "I know you're fine on your own, and an auntie comes over every day to help you take care of your two children. But I'm just passing by, so you don't need to feel burdened. Okay, I'm leaving."
He didn't want to linger any longer, but he was afraid she might say something.
Over the years, she would say the same thing every time he came over, but he would just let it go in one ear and out the other. He really wanted to tell her: Siyi, you keep the feelings in your heart, I just want to keep you.
Even without any reward, I would be happy to do it.
-
The next day was Saturday, but both children had extracurricular classes.
Siyi drove them to their destination and was about to go to the bookstore to find some information when they passed by the entrance of a construction site. There was a large crowd gathered not far away, and the traffic was completely jammed.
Siyi sat in the car for a long time, but the car didn't move at all.
She's in a dilemma right now, with her back blocked as well.
She glanced ahead and saw that someone seemed to be causing trouble. After thinking for a moment, she took her handbag and got off the bus.
As soon as I got out of the car, I heard a great deal of noise and chaos coming from the construction site not far away. When I got closer, I saw that there were police cars parked at the entrance of the construction site.
She squinted at the ambulance and the reporters' van; there were at least several hundred people inside, all looking up at the sky.
"Ugh, this is terrible, it's been going on for days!"
People around her were talking amongst themselves, but Siyi stood still, her voice mingling with the sounds of conversation.
"Isn't that right? How could such a big company do something like this?"
"Exactly, in this situation, wouldn't it be better if such a large company just allocated some money? That young man is quite pitiful! Now he's even threatening to jump off a building in protest."
"I heard that the big boss isn't a local."
"Whether he's a local or not, that young man is really pitiful. I support him. I just hope he doesn't fall to his death. It's so high. If he really falls, he'll probably be smashed to pieces!"
.........
Siyi overheard bits and pieces of the story, and after looking around, she roughly understood that a worker must have been injured while working, and probably quite seriously.
It's likely that the contractor at this construction site refused to provide him with any compensation, which is why this incident occurred.
She looked up and followed the crowd's gaze. She saw a person standing on the edge of the high rooftop, pacing back and forth. It looked quite dangerous.
If he were to fall like that, the scene would definitely be extremely bloody.
Siyi suffered a lot when she was with Beibei and Tiantian, so much so that for the past five years, she has always been somewhat afraid of bloody scenes.
She didn't want to linger at this point, especially since it was so high up. Although she didn't have a severe fear of heights, she still felt a bit uneasy. Seeing people walking around up there made her uneasy, so after thinking for a moment, she turned around and prepared to leave.
Unexpectedly, they overheard an anxious voice on the police radio nearby: "Has the lawyer arrived yet? Get the lawyer up here quickly! The person upstairs is very agitated and can't wait any longer. Get the lawyer up here immediately! He's already climbed over the fence!"
Siyi glanced over subconsciously and saw a man in a sharp suit standing next to her. He seemed to be in charge, with a serious expression and a hint of sharpness. He took the walkie-talkie from the policeman and said to the person on it, "Wait a little longer. We've already contacted them. They'll be here in another half hour. It's rush hour now, so there might be some traffic."
Then he said to the people next to him, "Hurry up and tell the firefighters to get ready to pick up the person."
Immediately, someone nearby started jeering, saying, "If someone jumps from such a height, what are you going to catch them for? You'll definitely turn into mincemeat!"
"Exactly! Your company is so big, you can build a shopping mall, why would you care about such a small amount of money? Just pay them the money. If someone really dies, you probably can forget about opening this mall!"
"Yes, we all live around here. This constant noise is really a headache!"
…………
The crowd grew increasingly noisy, and the police quickly stood by to maintain order.
Siyi thought silently, how could these people understand what business is, or what it means to be a businessman?
For those people, it's not something that can be paid for just one human life.
Having handled countless cases, Siyi naturally understands that every boss has a different mindset when weighing situations.
Too often, being a person boils down to a matter of principle.
Siyi was wondering whether she should go up.
At least she's a lawyer; isn't it too cold-hearted for her to just stand there and watch?
Suddenly, people downstairs screamed and looked up at the top floor. They saw the person pacing back and forth on the edge of the top floor, throwing down some bricks and tiles.
You could vaguely hear his hysterical screams, "I want to see a lawyer! Don't come any closer! I just want to see a lawyer! I want to file a lawsuit! I want to see a lawyer! I want to file a lawsuit! Get your lawyer here right now, I can't wait any longer! If my lawyer doesn't come in five minutes, I'll jump!"
A moment later, sure enough, a hissing voice came through the walkie-talkie again: "He's too agitated; we can't get close to him at all!"
The man in the sharp suit also showed some anxiety. He pressed the walkie-talkie and said, "Try to delay him as much as possible. The lawyer is on his way."
He tossed the walkie-talkie to a nearby policeman and turned to make a call. Siyi, of course, had no interest in who he was calling, but the person upstairs was clearly a vulnerable individual. He was now pinning all his hopes on a lawyer, but even the lawyer who arrived later might not be able to help him…
She bit her lip, steeled her resolve, stepped forward, patted the policeman on the shoulder, and said, "Hello, I'm the lawyer. I'll go up and talk to him."
"You...you're a lawyer?"
The policeman hesitated because Siyi was so young and dressed in a very artistic style, making her seem less like a lawyer.
Siyi took out her lawyer's license from her bag and handed it to the police officer. "This is my lawyer's license. Can you send someone to take me upstairs so I can talk to him? What do you think?"
"I'll take you up there."
It was the same person who had just run over to make the call. He looked at Siyi gratefully, made way for her from the crowd, and walked ahead. "Miss, what is your surname?"
"leaf."
"Attorney Ye, thank you for your help. It's a bit high. Are you afraid of heights?"
"good."
The two stood on the simple elevator at the construction site and went straight up. Siyi was still a little flustered, but she tried not to look at the increasingly smaller crowd on the ground. She took a deep breath and said, "I don't know the specifics yet. Can you tell me first?"
The man nodded and quickly said, "It's like this. This worker has been working here for a while, but he was injured recently. I don't know the specifics, but the contractor didn't pay him compensation for his injury, so he's been making a fuss. At first, it was a small fuss, but now it's a big one."
Siyi glanced at the man beside her and calmly asked, "Aren't you the contractor?"
The man smiled, shook his head, and said, "I work for the head office. Actually, this matter doesn't have much to do with us, but our president values this project highly and doesn't want any negative news to come out. He was supposed to come today, but he had a meeting at the last minute, so I came first."
As he spoke, the man raised his wrist, "The president will probably arrive in the evening."
