Chapter 362 The Bride of the Sea God (21)
Chapter 362 The Bride of the Sea God (21)
Yan Zhen: "...Thank you, but I don't want it."
"Why?" Nolan asked, like a child enthusiastically trying to recommend something only to be ruthlessly rejected. "Don't you like any of them?"
"We don't have room to raise them at home," Yan Zhen casually made up an excuse, pushing Nolan towards the sea. "If you swim for another half hour, we'll have to go back."
Upon hearing that there was only half an hour left, Nolan turned around and plunged into the sea, making the most of the time to swim.
Half an hour passed in a flash. Nolan was called ashore, and when he removed his fishtail and got dressed, he looked like he hadn't had enough.
"Can I come again next time?"
"can."
"When is the next time?"
"I'll bring you here when I have time."
"Then when are you free?"
"...It's not certain yet." Yan Zhen thought for a moment, and seeing Nolan's earnest expression asking for a promise, gave a rough timeframe, "About half a month later, I'll try to make time for it."
Nolan counted on his fingers, which had just lost their webbed edges: "Fifteen days."
“Yes, fifteen days.” Yan Zhen squatted down behind him and used a towel to dry his wet long hair.
Nolan suddenly asked, "Do you have money?"
Yan Zhen was taken aback, then nodded and said, "Yes."
Are there many?
Yan Zhen hesitated for a moment: "I guess...?"
The original owner had no worries about food and drink, and had more money in her account than she could spend. She never took stock of Si Xia's exact assets.
“Then can you buy a deserted island?” Nolan said. “You can live on the island, and I can live in the sea off the island. You can go to school during the day, and I can go back to the sea. I can come ashore to meet you at night, and then we can never be apart.”
Yan Zhen paused, then said calmly, "Separate? We can stay together now, so why buy the island?"
Nolan: "..."
He realized he had almost let something slip, so he immediately shut up.
"Is staying on shore making you unhappy?" Yan Zhen asked. "Or is it..."
“No!” Nolan interrupted her. “I was just saying… Let’s go home, I’m hungry.”
He deliberately changed the subject, so Yan Zhen had no choice but to give up trying to get information out of him and got up to leave with him.
On the way back, Nolan sat in the sidecar of a three-wheeled motorcycle, arms crossed, head tilted back on Yan Zhen's lap, looking thoughtful.
Back home, Yan Zhen took a shower and came out of the bathroom to find Nolan watching science videos on her tablet.
She vaguely heard the keywords "jungle," "human," and "survival necessities," and her steps faltered.
Nolan is illiterate and his understanding of the human world comes entirely from science videos.
Although he usually watches all sorts of strange videos, Yan Zhen quickly guessed what he wanted to do based on his hesitant expression and his suggestion to buy an island at the beach tonight.
He wanted to keep her alive when he destroyed the human world, and buy an island to keep her captive.
Just like I'm raising him now.
This speculation left Yan Zhen with mixed feelings of joy and worry.
What worries me is that Nolan and she have always been irreconcilable adversaries.
What pleased her was that her efforts over the past few days had not been in vain; Nolan had begun to feel "unable to bear" her, and she was not far from fully trusting him.
-
Yan Zhen's guess was pretty much right.
As September arrives, autumn begins in Shengjing, with ginkgo leaves along the roadside turning yellow day by day, and the weather getting cooler day by day.
Nolan, feeling restless from being alone at home, suggested going out alone.
Yan Zhen did not refuse his request, but only sent bodyguards to accompany him on the first three times he went out alone.
He went to the supermarket alone for the first time and bought a bunch of snacks, half of which were his favorites and half of which were Yan Zhen's favorites.
I went to the seafood market for the second time.
The third time, they went to the agricultural planting base located on the outskirts of Shengjing.
Because of motion sickness, Nolan spent a day learning to ride a sidecar motorcycle to make it easier to go out. By the fourth time, he was able to ride it by himself.
Because he went out frequently, Yan Zhen would find a lot of messy things in the house every day when he came home from school.
For example, there's the potting soil piled up in the backyard, planting tools, bird droppings, cow dung, sheep dung fertilizer, and all sorts of vegetable seeds.
One day, when Yan Zhen came back from get out of class, he couldn't find Nolan in the house or the front yard. When he ran to the back yard, he saw Nolan wearing a onesie, gloves, and a tissue stuffed in his nose, mixing sheep manure with a disgusted look on his face.
Although the sheep manure was processed and the odor was not obvious, the mermaids had a highly developed sense of smell, and this odor was still very strong for them. Nolan had to stop after stirring it a few times, as he was suffering from the stench.
Half of the huge lawn in the backyard had been cleared, the soil turned over, and a thick layer of nutrient soil had been laid on top. It looked like Nolan was preparing to plant vegetables on this land.
Yan Zhen leaned against the door frame, raising an eyebrow as he watched this scene—a mermaid who had come ashore had come to the human world to learn how to grow vegetables.
It's good to live a long life; you can even see such rare things.
Nolan noticed Yan Zhen's gaze, turned around and met her eyes, then pointed to several bamboo cages not far away and ordered her: "Go, feed them some millet."
Yan Zhen then noticed the things placed in the corner. She went over to take a look and found a cage each of chicks, ducklings, and goslings.
"..." She picked up the millet that was placed aside, and while feeding the little creatures, she asked Nolan, "Do you want me to buy you some more piglets, lambs, and calves?"
Nolan was busy with his work and didn't even look up: "Those are too big, we'll raise them later."
Yan Zhen: "..."
Is he really planning to raise it?
At the same time, Yan Zhen realized that Nolan was determined to keep her under his control.
Everything he is learning now is so that she can survive on this secluded island without lacking food and water.
-
Half a month passed in the blink of an eye.
The time had come when Yan Zhen and Nolan had agreed to take him to the beach for some fresh air.
Yan Zhen booked the beach privately three days in advance. After class in the evening, she packed her bag, took out her phone, and saw that Nolan had sent her a voice message, saying that he would wait for her at the intersection opposite the school gate.
He also included a photo of a sidecar motorcycle that he had taken.
Yan Zhen quickly replied with an "OK" emoji.
As Yan Zhen walked out of the school gate, he saw Nolan at the opposite intersection from a distance.
Nolan saw her too and waved to her.
Just as Yan Zhen was about to go over, a voice called out from behind: "Si Xia".
She paused, turned around, and saw Qiao Yun trotting over with a tall Rottweiler on a leash: "Are you free? Let's go eat together."
Yan Zhen smiled apologetically: "I'm sorry, I have something to do."
Qiao Yun looked somewhat helpless after being rejected: "Then let's make an appointment when you're free?"
Yan Zhen hesitated for a moment before speaking frankly: "Senior, thank you for your kindness, but I am currently focusing my energy on my studies and have no interest in anything else."
Qiao Yun's smile faded slightly, and she sighed with some regret: "I'm sorry, I was presumptuous."
"It's ok."
As the two were talking, Qiao Yun's Rottweiler suddenly started barking wildly at Yan Zhen's back.
