Chapter 11 Honey-Glazed Roasted Chicken Legs
Chapter 11 Honey-Glazed Roasted Chicken Legs
As the TV was broadcasting interviews with placard-holding girls, Yu Hui looked at the screen and asked, "Why wasn't Second Sister interviewed? Other placard-holding girls were interviewed yesterday too."
"Are you crazy? Why would you interview her?" Paula continued, "People just want to interview pretty girls."
“Then Deok-sun is fine too! Besides, there are only three high school students. If we don’t interview our Deok-sun, who else can we interview?” the father quickly said.
“I also have an interview, I’ll be interviewed tomorrow,” Deok-sun glanced at her sister Bora and said confidently to her father.
"Crazy girl, stop bragging!" Paula said, turning her head away with an indifferent expression.
"It's true!!!" Deok-sun couldn't stand her sister's indifferent words and shouted.
"What a crazy girl! How can you talk to your own sister like that?" Dad scolded Paula.
“That crazy girl is obviously lying,” Paula continued to express her opinion.
"You little brat, I'll slap you across the face." The father pretended to raise his hand to scare Bora, protecting Deok-sun's fragile heart.
"Why do we always talk about this?" Paula felt very depressed. This Olympics was not as harmonious as it seemed on the surface. It was achieved at the expense of too many ordinary people's interests. As a progressive intellectual who was at the forefront of the times, Paula had long harbored dissatisfaction.
She couldn't help but criticize or downplay the Olympics whenever her family talked about it, to the point that she ridiculed everyone, even when her sister became an Olympic placard bearer.
"It's because you're too weird," said the simple-minded Deok-sun, who didn't care about anything else. She was happy that her father had finally stood up for her and said a few words to her sister. She complained about her sister.
"Strange! Strange? I think you're crazy!"
Bora, who was already harboring anger, reached out and grabbed Deok-sun's hair.
"Oh dear! Oh dear! Mom! Mom~~"
"What's wrong! Ah! What's wrong with me!"
"Ouch! Paula, stop pulling! Your hair's going to fall out!"
Just as Liu Shuyu reached the door and was about to call out, he heard Deok-sun calling for her mother from inside. He raised his right hand, ready to knock, but then froze.
He thought to himself: Should I wait until they finish fighting?
However, the noise stopped after a short while, indicating that Paula's mother had successfully broken up the fight.
"Auntie," Liu Shuyu knocked on the door and called out.
The people in the room were taken aback at first.
"Yu Hui, it's Shu Yu!" Paula's mother called out, reassuring Deok-sun and instructing Yu Hui to go out and check.
"Shuyu!"
"Oh! Okay!" Yu Hui quickly got up and walked towards the door.
"Brother, what brings you here!" Yu Hui said happily to Liu Shuyu.
"Oh, Yu Hui, I made some dishes and wanted to bring them for you to try," Liu Shuyu said with a smile, showing Yu Hui the large plate in his hand.
"Wow!" Seeing the large plate of roasted chicken legs that Liu Shuyu brought over, Yu Hui couldn't help but swallow hard and quickly said, "Brother, come in, come in!"
Liu Shuyu nodded and went inside. Before he even got close, he heard Paula's mother call out with a smile, "Shuyu's here! Come on in, we're having fried chicken!"
"Hello Auntie, hello Uncle, hello Sister, Deok-sun!" Liu Shuyu walked into the house and quickly greeted the neatly dressed family.
"Oh dear, you're here now, why did you bring so much stuff?" Paula's dad said, peeking left and right. In the end, he didn't seem to see what he wanted to see. Although he was a little disappointed, he still happily said to Liu Shuyu.
When Liu Shuyu saw Paula's father peeking out, he knew what was going on; he assumed Paula had brought alcohol with him!
“Yes, Shuyu,” Paula nodded with her usual expressionless face.
"Shuyu, what's this?" Paula's mother asked, looking at the large basin in his hand.
"Oh! These are honey-glazed roasted chicken legs that I made at home. I wanted to bring them for you to try," she said, smiling as she put the plate down.
Deok-sun was stunned from the moment Yoo Seo-woo came in until he greeted her, seemingly lost in thought.
Just now, she was so anxious that she hid behind her father and hurriedly pulled up the corner of his clothes to wipe away her tears and the grease on her mouth.
Paula's dad: ......
"Thank you, Seo-woo!" Deok-sun finally showed up. She instantly recovered and smiled as she thanked Yoo Seo-woo, her nose red.
"Oh, Deok-sun! Try it quickly, it's still warm!" Liu Shuyu quickly picked up a chicken leg and handed it to her.
"Okay, oh!! It's so delicious!" Deok-sun took it and put it in her mouth, taking a big bite. Then her eyes lit up instantly, and she exclaimed loudly, not forgetting to call for her parents to eat as well.
Bora's parents, who were watching Liu Shuyu hand out chicken legs, were startled out of their daze when Deok-sun called them after she finished eating.
"Oh, honey, you should try it!" Paula's dad, with his head down and staring at the chicken leg, picked one up and handed it to Paula's mom.
"You eat too, you eat too." Paula's mom also took one and handed it to Paula's dad.
"Shuyu, sit down and eat with us! You brought so much, we can't finish it all!" Paula's mother called to Liu Shuyu to sit down and eat.
"Oh, okay, Auntie!" Liu Shuyu looked at the empty seat next to Paula on his left, and then at Yu Hui sitting next to Paula's father. He said decisively, "Yu Hui, I was carrying a tray and forgot to bring a bottle of wine from outside. Could you go and get it for me?"
Before he could finish speaking, he saw Paula's father's eyes widen instantly.
"Go, go, go! Hurry up and help Shuyu! All you do is eat!" After saying that, Paula's dad, while pulling Yu Hui up, also patted Yu Hui's bottom twice to urge him to hurry up.
He looked longingly at the chicken leg with his teeth marks on it and swallowed hard.
Yu Hui: So I'm the only one in this house who was picked up off the street, right...?
"Oh dear, I told you not to bring random things. Come on, come on, sit here!" Paula's father moved aside, letting Liu Shuyu sit next to him.
As soon as Liu Shuyu sat down, Deok-sun patted him on the shoulder.
Liu Shuyu turned his head and looked at Deok-sun with a puzzled expression.
"Why did you bring alcohol again?" Deok-sun looked at him with a strange expression.
"Oh! It was a gift from someone else. I don't drink much myself, so I brought it over for Uncle to drink," Liu Shuyu explained to Deok-sun with a smile.
"Hey! You silly girl, Shuyu wants to have a chat with her dad. The alcohol is just a small matter, a small matter! What do you know!" Paula's dad quickly said in a funny way, and then he didn't forget to grin at Liu Shuyu with his teeth showing.
Deok-sun rolled her eyes helplessly as she watched her father's drinking habit return.
"Brother, where did you put it? I can't find it." Yu Hui walked in and asked in confusion.
"Oh? I'll go take a look?" he said, then gestured for Yu Hui to sit down before leaving.
