Chapter 245 Finding an Opportunity in a Desperate Situation and a Mysterious Turning Point

Within that wildly spinning vortex of spiritual energy, every second felt like a countdown to death. Huanmo felt his physical and spiritual strength about to be exhausted, and the grip on Ling'er's arm was weakening. Ling'er's eyes were tightly closed, her face as pale as paper, and she was so weak that she had almost lost consciousness.

"No, I can't give up! I must save Ling'er, save everyone!" Huanmo cried out in his heart, relying on his last bit of willpower to continue swimming towards the source of that mysterious power. His body ached from the impact of the vortex's power, as if every inch of his skin was about to be torn apart, but he still did not back down in the slightest.

Wanru and the woman in white struggled against the whirlpool, their eyes filled with despair, yet they continued to fight. Wanru's weapon was long gone, and her hands were bleeding from constantly resisting the whirlpool's impact. The woman in white's magic was also becoming intermittent; her body swayed uncontrollably with the whirlpool's rotation, and she gasped for breath.

Although the mysterious man was powerful, he was now in a predicament. The light from his staff dimmed, and the fluctuations of his spiritual energy grew weaker. He knew that if he couldn't find a way to break the deadlock soon, everyone would be annihilated in this vortex. "I must stay calm, there must be another way," he kept reminding himself, while carefully observing his surroundings, trying to find clues to break the deadlock.

Huanmo struggled forward through the vortex, each step costing him dearly. Suddenly, he discovered that the source of that mysterious power seemed closely connected to a rune on the stone gate. The frequency of that rune's flashing seemed to follow a certain pattern in relation to the changes in the vortex's power.

"Could it be that if I can just stop this rune from flashing, I can break this curse?" A glimmer of hope ignited in Huanmo's heart. He concentrated his last bit of spiritual power, attempting to influence the rune. However, the power surrounding the rune was too strong; his spiritual power was repelled the moment it made contact.

"This won't do, we need to think of another way." Huanmo was extremely anxious. While thinking of a solution, he continued to observe the changes in the runes. At this moment, he suddenly remembered some patterns he had seen in the ruins before. Those patterns seemed to have similarities with this rune.

"Perhaps we can try to decipher the runes by following the patterns." A thought struck Huanmo. He tried hard to recall the details of the patterns, attempting to find inspiration. In this life-or-death moment, his brain worked at lightning speed, sorting through all the clues in his mind.

Just as Huanmo was deep in thought, the scroll in Ling'er's hand suddenly emitted a soft light. The light flickered in the vortex, miraculously slowing its rotation. Huanmo was overjoyed. "Ling'er, shine the light from the scroll onto that rune!" he shouted, while adjusting his position to try and guide the light from the scroll.

While unconscious, Ling'er seemed to hear Huanmo's call. Instinctively, she hugged the scroll tightly and shone the light in the direction Huanmo pointed. The moment the scroll's light touched the runes, the frequency of the runes' flashing changed.

Seeing this, the mysterious man felt a glimmer of hope. Suppressing his exhaustion, he waved his staff again, sending a faint beam of light towards the runes. The light resonated with the light from the scroll, and the runes' flickering gradually slowed.

Seeing this, Wanru and the woman in white also mustered their last bit of strength, channeling their spiritual power into the rune. With everyone's combined efforts, the rune's light finally began to fade.

As the runic light faded, the powerful vortex force also began to weaken rapidly. The group's bodies no longer spun uncontrollably as before, but instead slowly descended towards the ground.

Everyone landed heavily on the ground, panting heavily, overwhelmed with the joy of surviving a disaster. "We...we did it?" Ling'er said weakly, a relieved smile on her face.

Huanmo looked at his companions, his heart filled with gratitude and relief. "It's good that everyone is alright, thanks to everyone's efforts." However, he felt a little worried. Although the crisis at the stone gate had been temporarily averted, they had not yet passed the test, and what was hidden behind the stone gate was still an unknown.

Wanru stood up, looking at the stone door with a furrowed brow. "The secret of this stone door hasn't been solved yet. What should we do next?"

The woman in white gently touched her chest and shook her head slightly. "I don't know, but I always feel that there is a huge secret hidden behind this stone door, which may be related to the power that balances the darkness."

The mysterious figure gazed silently at the stone gate, lost in thought. "Regardless, we've come this far; we can only move forward. However, everyone must be careful; even more dangerous challenges may lie ahead."

Just as everyone was preparing to explore the stone gate again, it suddenly emitted a low rumble. Then, the gate slowly opened, and a pungent black smoke billowed out, filling the entire space. From within the smoke, a sinister laugh could be faintly heard. What was hidden in this black smoke? Who was making that sinister laugh? At this seemingly successful moment, what terrifying crisis would the group face next? Everything was shrouded in a thick fog, waiting for them to uncover the truth…
