Chapter 30 Trap and Breakthrough
Chapter 30 Trap and Breakthrough
Lin Chuyue stood before the enormous floor-to-ceiling window, the brightly lit city outside sparkling like a sea of stars, yet an invisible tension gripped her heart. Shen Fang's schemes were like a web, each link intricately connected, and Wang Peng's actions had given her a glimpse of a crucial flaw. But she knew these clues might all be part of Shen Fang's trap.
In the early hours of the morning, Lin Chuyue received an urgent call from the technical department.
"Mr. Lin, we just discovered that Wang Peng has accessed some sensitive data from the finance department. You need to come and take a look as soon as possible." The technical supervisor's voice was tinged with anxiety.
Lin Chuyue frowned: "What data?"
"At first glance, it involves some company secret accounts and the flow of data is complicated. But strangely, he only browsed some of the data and did not download it."
"Just browsing?" Lin Chuyue repeated softly, her eyes growing colder. "I'll be right there."
When she arrived at the technical department, the surveillance video had already been pulled up. In the video, Wang Peng looked cautious, glanced around, quickly operated the computer, and left the finance office ten minutes later.
"This doesn't seem like a simple coincidence; it's more like they deliberately left some traces," Lin Chuyue said softly, her gaze sweeping over the technical director. "Did you intercept the data from these accounts?"
"Yes, but we don't have full access to analyze it," the technical lead replied.
Lin Chuyue nodded: "Make a copy of the data and save it. Also, keep a close eye on Wang Peng's movements, but don't alert him."
No sooner had she finished speaking than her computer received an anonymous email. The contents of the email sent a chill down her spine: it not only described Wang Peng's actions in detail, but also included records of account fund flows.
At the end of the email, there was a short line: "Do you want to know the truth? Perhaps you should look at the people around you."
She sneered and muttered, "Shen Fang, this is another one of your schemes, isn't it?"
The next morning, Lin Chuyue sent the email to Gu Yanchuan and asked him to meet her at a coffee shop she had never been to before.
Gu Yanchuan sat by the window, a wisp of steam rising from his coffee cup. He flipped through the email, his expression icy: "The purpose of this email is very clear: to undermine your trust in those around you."
“But the content is indeed valuable.” Lin Chuyue sat opposite him, her voice calm. “I think this is bait deliberately thrown out by Shen Fang to guide me to investigate Wang Peng.”
"What do you plan to do?" Gu Yanchuan raised his eyes, his gaze deep.
Lin Chuyue leaned back in her chair, her fingers tapping unconsciously on the table: "Whether it's a trap or a clue, Wang Peng's problem deserves to be investigated further. I just need a more meticulous plan to avoid falling into Shen Fang's trap."
Gu Yanchuan nodded slightly: "This matter cannot be handled by you alone. If Shen Fang really uses this as a trigger, her target may not only be Wang Peng."
“I am her target.” Lin Chuyue smiled faintly, but her tone was firm. “The more I investigate, the easier it is for me to fall into the vortex she has set up.”
“If you trust me, I will investigate Hengyuan International’s background from the outside,” Gu Yanchuan said in a low voice, his tone gentle yet firm. “And you, stay calm and don’t act rashly.”
Lin Chuyue looked up and met his deep eyes. Suddenly, she felt a sense of comfort welling up in her heart: "Thank you, I will be careful."
Gu Yanchuan smiled slightly and gently took her hand: "Chuyue, don't carry all the pressure on your shoulders. You are not alone."
She paused for a moment, then nodded, a hint of gentleness in her eyes: "Mm."
At the same time, a secret meeting was taking place in Shen Fang's home.
"Are you sure Wang Peng can complete the mission?" The middle-aged man sitting opposite me asked with a hint of doubt in his voice.
Shen Fang elegantly picked up her teacup, took a sip, and a cold smile played on her lips: "He had no other choice."
“But if Lin Chuyue finds out about Hengyuan International’s accounts… that would be a problem for us.”
"Hengyuan International is just a smokescreen for me." Shen Fang put down her teacup, her tone laced with disdain. "Every clue I leave her will eventually point to herself. No matter how she investigates, I will eventually frame her as the mastermind."
The man nodded thoughtfully: "Are you really confident about this risky move you've made?"
Shen Fang's gaze was deep, and her tone was firm: "Of course. I never allow myself to fail."
That evening, Lin Chuyue analyzed the data she had obtained from the technical department again and discovered that Wang Peng's actions involved the flow of a huge sum of money. The final destination of the funds pointed to a secret account belonging to Hengyuan International.
She gently rubbed her temples, flipping through the attachments in the email. Suddenly, the head of the technical department called: "President Lin, we've discovered something strange."
"what?"
“When we were tracking Hengyuan International’s transaction records, we discovered that their system was tracking us back and they were attempting to locate our IP address.”
Lin Chuyue was taken aback, then sneered: "Shen Fang was indeed waiting for me to make the first move."
"Then what happens next?"
"Temporarily halt the tracking to avoid exposure," Lin Chuyue said in a deep voice. "However, this also means we are not far from the truth."
After hanging up the phone, she immediately sent a message to Gu Yanchuan, updating him on the new situation.
The next day, the company's technical department sent another message: Wang Peng, in his capacity as the head of the security department, had retrieved the technical department's surveillance records, citing an internal network anomaly as the reason.
When Lin Chuyue arrived at the scene, she happened to see Wang Peng coming out of the technical department.
"Wang Peng, why are you suddenly concerned about internet issues?" Lin Chuyue's voice sounded casual, but it was sharp and shrewd.
A fleeting hint of panic crossed Wang Peng's face, but he quickly regained his composure: "President Lin, cybersecurity is also one of my responsibilities. I heard that the technical department has been unusually busy lately, so I came here specifically to check on things."
"Is that so?" Lin Chuyue smiled slightly, her gaze sharp as a knife. "The core members of the technical department probably don't need your concern; they know what they're doing."
Wang Peng nodded and said respectfully, "Yes, Miss Lin, then I won't bother you any longer."
As he turned to leave, Lin Chuyue stared at his retreating figure, lost in thought.
Late at night, Lin Chuyue returned to her office and began to systematically sort through all the clues she had. She understood that Shen Fang's plan had entered a crucial stage, and she had to uncover the truth first in order to escape Shen Fang's scheme.
She gripped the pen tightly and murmured, "Shen Fang, you think you're playing this game, but I'm going to make you lose first."
