Chapter 38 On the Eve of Breaking the Impasse
Chapter 38 On the Eve of Breaking the Impasse
Lin Chuyue sat quietly in her office, the night outside the window deep and brightly lit. Her gaze was fixed on a document on the desk, which detailed the financial flows of the Vickers Group. Every transaction was meticulously recorded, the funds so dispersed that they were almost impossible to trace. Just as she had expected, Shen Fang had already prepared for any investigation.
She picked up the phone and dialed Wang Peng's number, holding her breath as she waited for him to answer. A few seconds later, the call connected, and Wang Peng's voice came through: "President Lin, is there any new news?"
“Shen Fang’s plan doesn’t have many flaws,” Lin Chuyue said in a low voice. “But she didn’t pay enough attention to some details. Although the transfer of funds seems reasonable, she can’t cover up certain clues. Now that the flow of funds in the Vickers Group has been exposed, there shouldn’t be any major problems.”
Wang Peng was silent for a moment, then his voice became somewhat tense: "Then what should we do?"
Lin Chuyue's lips curled into a cold smile. "Don't worry, we can completely control the situation from now on. You continue to monitor Shen Fang's movements, and once she shows any weakness, I will take immediate action. The most important thing now is to ensure that every step is flawless."
Even after hanging up the phone, Lin Chuyue remained vigilant. She knew Shen Fang would never admit defeat easily; the upcoming showdown was crucial. She closed her eyes, reviewing the entire plan, not letting any detail slip by.
Meanwhile, Shen Fang sat in her office, her expression somber, her fingers constantly stroking a pen on the desk. A cold glint flashed in her eyes, and she was filled with wariness towards Lin Chuyue. She knew that although she had made ample preparations, Lin Chuyue's quick reactions made her uneasy.
“Wang Peng betrayed me,” Shen Fang muttered to herself, her tone devoid of anger, instead carrying a deep sense of disappointment. “But he was nothing more than a pawn.”
She knew perfectly well that Wang Peng was merely a pawn she had long controlled. Although his betrayal angered her, it didn't affect the execution of the overall plan. She had arranged everything; the transfer of funds from the Vickers Group was just one part of it, merely a cover for her true intentions—to fundamentally destroy Lin Chuyue and trap her in an inescapable predicament.
"Lin Chuyue, every step you take is under my control." Shen Fang smiled confidently, her eyes flashing with complex emotions.
Gu Yanchuan was currently in a conference room at the company, surrounded by a mountain of reports. His gaze, however, remained fixed on a particular document. It was a financial report about the Vicker Group, which he had just retrieved from the company's back-end system. The report revealed that Vicker Group's funds, after several transfers, ultimately flowed into some high-risk overseas accounts. Surprisingly, the related parties of these accounts were virtually untraceable, making it impossible to verify their true identities.
A thought struck Gu Yanchuan, and he suddenly remembered the Vicker Group that Lin Chuyue had mentioned a few days ago. He immediately decided to investigate thoroughly and find clues behind it all. He picked up the phone and dialed a number.
“President Gu.” The voice on the other end of the phone immediately rang out, clear and calm.
"Make arrangements to send someone to the Vickers Group immediately to investigate their recent financial activities. I need to see the most detailed reports and the flow of funds," Gu Yanchuan instructed, his voice steady and firm.
"Understood, Mr. Gu."
After hanging up the phone, Gu Yanchuan's gaze deepened. He didn't tell Lin Chuyue that he was also investigating the financial flows of the Vickers Group, because he knew that Lin Chuyue didn't need his direct intervention; she already had her own plans. What he needed to do was provide her with enough information to ensure she could uncover even the deepest darkness hidden by Shen Fang.
Meanwhile, Lin Chuyue was unaware that Gu Yanchuan was quietly paving the way for her. She remained focused on monitoring the financial movements of the Vickers Group and constantly adjusting her strategies. She knew very well that Shen Fang's plan had entered its final stage, and any mistake could lead to her failure.
However, just as she was preparing to intensify her attacks on Shen Fang, she suddenly received a call from Gu Yanchuan.
Her heart raced slightly, and she quickly answered the phone: "Mr. Gu, what's up?"
Gu Yanchuan's voice remained calm: "The Vickers Group's cash flow is abnormal. I just investigated, and their recent financial movements are somewhat unusual. You can go and take a look; there might be a new breakthrough."
Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat. "Thank you, Mr. Gu. I know what to do."
“Stay vigilant,” Gu Yanchuan said in a deep voice. “You’re very close to the truth. Don’t give Shen Fang any chance to fight back.”
"I will." Lin Chuyue's voice was firm and calm. "This time, I will definitely not give her any more chances."
After hanging up the phone, Lin Chuyue's eyes hardened. She knew this game had finally entered its final stage. No matter how clever Shen Fang was, she couldn't hide her true colors forever. And she, Lin Chuyue, was determined to expose it all.
Lin Chuyue was prepared to face Shen Fang's final move. She knew that every step from now on was crucial. Neither Wang Peng's betrayal nor Shen Fang's trap could stop her.
"Shen Fang, do you think you can keep getting away with this?" Lin Chuyue muttered to herself, a resolute glint in her eyes.
She wanted to personally expose all the conspiracies and let everyone see Shen Fang's ugly face.
