Chapter 44 Board of Directors' Questioning
Chapter 44 Board of Directors' Questioning
Lin Chuyue entered the conference room and immediately felt a sense of oppression. The bright sunlight outside seemed unable to penetrate the silent room; the directors' eyes were all fixed on her, and a subtle tension filled the air.
She stood in the center of the conference room, calmly scanning the faces of each director with a smile, but inwardly she was already prepared for the confrontation to come.
“President Lin, the matter concerning Shen Fang was handled too hastily. We need more explanation,” a director said, his voice tinged with doubt.
Lin Chuyue smiled slightly, her gaze falling on the director who had spoken. She knew that this director was named Liu Tao, who had always had a close relationship with Shen Fang, and whose personal grudges with Shen Fang made him dissatisfied with the handling of this matter.
“Director Liu, I understand your concerns.” Lin Chuyue’s voice was clear and firm. “However, Shen Fang’s actions are a fact, and we can no longer tolerate her corruption and actions that harm the foundation of the company. The board of directors has decided to suspend her from her duties and conduct an investigation, which is for the long-term development of the company.”
Liu Tao frowned, clearly not satisfied with the answer: "But we cannot ignore her past contributions to the company, her abilities and experience, which cannot be easily denied."
Lin Chuyue's gaze darkened slightly, her tone unhurried: "I acknowledge that Shen Fang has made contributions in some aspects, but if her actions harm the company's interests, we must make a choice. What we need is someone who can protect the company's interests, not someone who will stop at nothing for personal gain."
The surrounding board members began to whisper among themselves, and Lin Chuyue could sense that their words had touched a nerve. Especially those board members who had a closer relationship with Shen Fang; complex expressions appeared on their faces.
Lin Chuyue continued, "Today, we are standing here discussing not just Shen Fang's problem, but also the future of the company. If we tolerate this behavior, we are sowing the seeds of future problems for the company. Our board of directors should have the ability to make decisive decisions."
As soon as she finished speaking, the conference room fell silent. Lin Chuyue's attitude was decisive and her words were sharp, drawing everyone's attention as if they were waiting for her to provide a final solution.
“But,” another director suddenly interjected, “we need to clarify the reasons for Shen Fang’s resignation. Is there sufficient evidence to support it?”
Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat; she had anticipated someone would raise such a question. Her gaze fell on Gu Yanchuan, who sat at one corner of the conference table, looking at her expressionlessly, seemingly ready to support her.
“We have ample evidence.” Lin Chuyue smiled slightly, her voice clear and resolute. “Shen Fang’s financial records have been exposed, and all suspicious funds have been traced. We have even found evidence that she transferred funds through clandestine channels. All of this is sufficient to show that her actions have exceeded the scope of her duties.”
As soon as she finished speaking, the conference room fell silent; everyone seemed somewhat shocked. Clearly, no one had expected Shen Fang to be involved in such serious financial matters.
"Where is this evidence?" one of the directors finally couldn't help but ask.
"If you need, I can arrange for the relevant personnel to provide the evidence to everyone." Lin Chuyue's tone was calm, and she was not swayed by the doubts at all.
Liu Tao still hadn't completely shaken off his doubts, and his tone was somewhat hesitant: "President Lin, Shen Fang is, after all, a senior executive. Such a sudden and significant change is bound to make people uneasy."
Lin Chuyue looked up at him, her eyes resolute: "I understand your concerns, but if we continue to delay, the company's interests may be harmed on a larger scale. I'm not trying to push Shen Fang down, but to eliminate all hidden dangers for the company and ensure that the company's interests are not damaged."
Her words immediately made the atmosphere in the conference room heavy again. Although Shen Fang's actions were not fully exposed, Lin Chuyue's determination had begun to inspire everyone present.
Suddenly, Gu Yanchuan spoke slowly, his voice deep and dignified: "I believe Lin Chuyue's words are true. What Shen Fang has done has seriously harmed the company's interests, and every one of us on the board is a guardian of the company. If we do not make a decision in time, we will all pay the price in the future."
As soon as Gu Yanchuan finished speaking, all eyes turned to him, and the atmosphere instantly became tense. Gu Yanchuan's status and position could not be ignored. His words undoubtedly gave Lin Chuyue strong support, and the seemingly effortless intimidation made many people present feel pressured.
Liu Tao's expression changed slightly, but he did not continue to refute. Because behind Gu Yanchuan stood the support of most of the shareholders and senior management of the entire board of directors, meaning that even if he was dissatisfied, he was powerless to change anything.
Lin Chuyue noticed that the situation had improved and continued, "Now, we need to make a decision as soon as possible. We can no longer let Shen Fang continue to control the company. She has been found to have committed serious dereliction of duty, and the next task is to clean up the roots of these problems."
She scanned the entire conference room, her gaze landing on the face of each director: "You should also understand that if we don't handle this decisively, the situation could become even more complicated. The impact of Shen Fang will put our company at greater risk."
After a long silence, one of the directors finally spoke up: "I agree with Mr. Lin's point of view. The company must make a choice."
“I agree,” another director chimed in.
Subsequently, more directors expressed their support for Lin Chuyue, and the atmosphere of the meeting gradually eased. Ultimately, the board of directors unanimously decided to suspend Shen Fang for one month to conduct an internal investigation and begin addressing the various issues she left behind.
Lin Chuyue knew that this decision was just the beginning, and the real test would come from the challenges that followed.
When the meeting ended, she walked out of the conference room, where Gu Yanchuan was already waiting.
"You did a great job," Gu Yanchuan said softly, a hint of approval in his eyes.
Lin Chuyue smiled slightly: "Thank you for your support."
Gu Yanchuan gave her a deep look, then said in a low voice, "Now that you have a firm foothold, the next decision will be your own."
Lin Chuyue looked up, took a deep breath, and nodded firmly: "I understand."
She knew that this was just the beginning.
