Chapter 77 Failure and Escape
Chapter 77 Failure and Escape
As night fell, the atmosphere in Shen Fang's office became heavy.
The neon lights outside the window flashed incessantly, reflecting on Shen Fang's cold, hard face. She sat behind her desk, her long, slender fingers gripping the phone tightly, her knuckles white from the force. The voice on the other end was deep and cold, devoid of any emotion:
“Shen Fang, the situation is out of control, and I can no longer support you. You should understand that this is the best choice.”
Shen Fang's breath hitched. She gritted her teeth to suppress her anger, her voice low but tinged with resentment: "The best choice? You made me lose all the foundation I had worked so hard to build. Is this what you call the 'best choice'?"
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, followed by a cold voice: "If you can't handle losing, don't get involved. Now, pack your things and go back to America as soon as possible. Don't make me remind you a second time."
"You think I have no other options?" Shen Fang retorted coldly.
The other party didn't seem to care: "Of course you can try, but I won't take responsibility for the consequences for you anymore. Shen Fang, you should learn to accept reality." With that, the call ended, leaving a long busy tone.
Shen Fang slammed her phone down on the table, her face extremely pale. She took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, but anger and despair surged up like a tide, making it almost impossible for her to breathe.
Not far away, Lin Yun stood at the doorway, witnessing everything. She wore a simple white dress and stood ramrod straight, like a statue. Her mother's disheveled state and loss of control put immense pressure on her, yet she was powerless to offer comfort.
"Mom, what should we do?" Lin Yun asked in a low voice, her tone tinged with fear.
Shen Fang raised her head, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes. She looked at her daughter, and after a long while, she finally spoke: "Let's go, leave here, and go back to America."
Lin Yun bit her lip, said nothing, and simply nodded quietly.
Shen Fang quickly began packing, stuffing all the documents, jewelry, and cash she could carry into her suitcase, not daring to waste a moment. At that moment, only one thought occupied her mind: leave, leave as soon as possible.
The airport was coldly lit late at night. The vast hall bustled with people, yet it only amplified the feeling of loneliness. Shen Fang, wearing sunglasses, walked beside Lin Yun, dragging her suitcase. The mother and daughter walked side by side, their faces devoid of any emotion.
Shen Fang stopped and glanced at the huge flight information board to confirm the flight time to the United States. She then handed the ticket to Lin Yun.
"Go wait over there, I'll be there as soon as I've finished dealing with my luggage." Her voice was unusually calm.
Lin Yun nodded and obediently walked towards the waiting area without asking any further questions. She knew her mother's mood at that moment, and any unnecessary words would only make the atmosphere worse.
Shen Fang stood alone in the baggage check-in area, watching the busy staff, her thoughts drifting far away. She once thought she could control everything, but now she was driven into a corner. In her heart, she cursed fiercely, cursing Lin Chuyue and those who had betrayed her.
Meanwhile, at the Lin Group headquarters, Lin Chuyue and Gu Yanchuan stood in their top-floor office, overlooking the brightly lit city.
Lin Chuyue's gaze was firm, and her tone carried a hint of relief: "Shen Fang has lost, completely lost. The big boss behind her has abandoned her, and now she can only flee back to the United States."
Gu Yanchuan, with his hands in his pockets, tilted his head slightly to look at Lin Chuyue, a faint smile playing on his lips: "This is your victory."
Lin Chuyue gently shook her head: "This is the result of everyone's joint efforts. If it weren't for you helping me stabilize the situation, we might have already been in trouble."
Gu Yanchuan's gaze softened slightly as he looked at her: "You are stronger than you think. Even without me, you can win."
Lin Chuyue turned around, walked to the window, looked at the night view in the distance, and said with a thoughtful tone: "Victory is indeed important, but I know that this is only the beginning. Shen Fang has lost, but the forces behind her are still a hidden danger. They have withdrawn their funds, but they may not give up."
Gu Yanchuan nodded, his gaze deep: "Yes, victory does not guarantee safety. But don't worry, with me here, you will no longer fight alone."
Lin Chuyue turned her head to look at him, her eyes filled with gratitude: "Thank you, Yanchuan."
The two smiled at each other, and the tacit understanding filled the air with a touch of warmth.
Shen Fang boarded the plane with Lin Yun and leaned back in her seat to rest. The lights outside the window gradually faded into the distance, but her thoughts remained unsettled.
"Mom, what will happen when we get to America?" Lin Yun suddenly asked, her voice clear and soft.
Shen Fang opened her eyes, looked at her daughter, and said in a rare gentle tone, "When we get to America, we'll start over. I'll give you the best life you can have."
Lin Yun nodded and didn't ask anything more, but her eyes held a lot of questions and worries.
The plane taxied slowly, and Shen Fang gazed at the city receding into the distance outside the window, her heart filled with resentment and bitterness. She vowed that this was not the end, but only a temporary retreat.
Shen Fang's defeat was a victory for Lin Chuyue and Gu Yanchuan's combined efforts. The Lin Group returned to its former order, and the crisis was temporarily averted. However, Lin Chuyue knew in her heart that the road ahead would still be full of challenges.
Standing by the office window, Lin Chuyue gazed into the distance with unwavering determination. She whispered to herself, "As long as I'm here, the Lin family will never fall."
