Chapter 79 The Heart Approaching Slowly

Chapter 79 The Heart Approaching Slowly

Lin's Group Office

After Shen Fang was arranged to return to the United States, Lin Chuyue's life gradually returned to normal. However, beneath the calm, complex emotions were surging within her heart.

That day, Lin Chuyue had just finished her work when her phone screen lit up with a message from Li Zhanchuan:

"I'll be downstairs at your company at 7 PM tonight."

Her tone was simple, yet brooked no refusal. Lin Chuyue hesitated for a moment before replying:

"Why did you suddenly come to see me?"

His reply came in less than a minute:

"want to see you."

Lin Chuyue stared at the three words, her heart stirred slightly, but in the end she did not refuse.

Dinner was not at a fancy restaurant, but at a lakeside restaurant in the suburbs. When Lin Chuyue got out of the car, Li Zhanchuan was already waiting at the door. He was dressed casually, looking less aloof than usual, and more relaxed and gentle.

"I thought you would take me to a fancy French restaurant," Lin Chuyue teased.

Li Zhanchuan chuckled: "Don't you prefer quiet places?"

As expected, Li Zhanchuan booked the entire restaurant to serve them. After the two were seated, Li Zhanchuan ordered several spicy dishes that Lin Chuyue liked. As he picked up the menu, he casually said, "I asked Xiao Ning, and he said you haven't had much of an appetite lately, so you like to eat Sichuan food."

Lin Chuyue was somewhat surprised: "You still went to ask Xiao Ning?"

Li Zhanchuan looked up at her, his tone calm but earnest: "I want to care about you."

A simple sentence sent a shiver down Lin Chuyue's spine. She lowered her head, avoiding his gaze, and silently drank a few sips of water until she calmed down.

"You've been very busy with work lately, haven't you?" Li Zhanchuan tried to change the subject.

Lin Chuyue nodded: "There are many things to do at the company, and my father is gradually entrusting more and more things to me."

Li Zhanchuan was silent for a moment, then said in a low voice, "You don't need to shoulder everything alone. Although you are very strong, you can sometimes rely on others, not just Gu Yanchuan, but also me."

Lin Chuyue looked up and met his gaze. In those deep eyes, besides certainty, there was also an undisguised tenderness.

"I..." Lin Chuyue opened her mouth, but hesitated to speak.

Li Zhanchuan didn't say anything more, but reached out and picked up a gift box from the side and handed it to her: "This is for you."

Lin Chuyue took it, opened it, and saw a Montblanc Master fountain pen engraved with her name. She looked up at him, a hint of surprise in her eyes: "Why did you give me this?"

“You always like to use this kind of pen to sign documents.” Li Zhanchuan smiled. “I think it suits you.”

A warm feeling welled up in Lin Chuyue's heart, and she said softly, "Thank you, I like it very much."

After dinner, Li Zhanchuan suggested taking a walk by the lake. A gentle night breeze blew across the lake, and moonlight shone on its surface, reflecting shimmering waves.

Lin Chuyue stopped and looked at the distant lake, then said softly, "Have I caused you a lot of trouble?"

Li Zhanchuan took a step closer and stood beside her: "Do you think I'm the kind of person who would be easily bothered by others?"

Lin Chuyue turned her head to look at him and smiled: "You are quite confident."

Li Zhanchuan sighed softly, his tone gentle: "I have never thought of backing down in front of you."

These words stirred something within Lin Chuyue. She unconsciously lowered her head, concealing the slight blush on her face: "You always say things that are hard to understand."

Li Zhanchuan smiled slightly and said softly, "I'm just telling the truth."

Back in the car, Li Zhanchuan, as always, drove her to her doorstep. Before she got out, he whispered, "Chuyue, goodnight."

Lin Chuyue didn't speak, she just nodded. She opened the car door, glanced back at him, and said, "Goodnight."

Li Zhanchuan watched her departing figure, a resolute glint in his eyes.

Lin Chuyue closed the door and leaned against it, taking a deep breath. She looked at the pen in her hand, her fingertips gently tracing the name on it.

The complex emotions I felt seemed to be subtly changing...
