Chapter 92: Gradually Falling in Love
Chapter 92: Gradually Falling in Love
After finishing the documents at hand, Lin Chuyue relaxed for a rare moment, leaned back in her chair, closed her eyes, and recalled the events of the past few days.
From Shen Fang's elimination to Li Zhanchuan's gradual approach, and then to Luo Yurou's appearance, she vaguely felt that her life was heading in an unfamiliar direction.
Just then, the phone screen lit up with a message from Li Zhanchuan: "Do you have time? Let's have dinner together."
Lin Chuyue hesitated for a moment before replying, "Okay, when?"
"I'll pick you up at seven o'clock tonight."
Lin Chuyue looked at the brief message and a slight smile appeared on her lips. This man, though seemingly cold, possessed an undeniable authority in his words, which surprisingly made her feel at ease.
That evening, Li Zhanchuan appeared downstairs at her apartment building right on time. He was wearing a dark blue suit, his posture was upright, and his eyes held a hint of tenderness.
Lin Chuyue got into the car and turned her head to ask, "Did you ask me out today because of something?"
Li Zhanchuan's lips curled into a slight smile: "Is it not enough to simply invite you to a meal?"
She raised an eyebrow: "President Li is so busy, yet he still invited me to dinner alone. I must cherish this opportunity."
The car drove towards a high-end restaurant hidden in a bustling neighborhood.
During the meal, Li Zhanchuan didn't talk about work, but instead chatted about some lighthearted topics. Lin Chuyue gradually lowered her guard, and was even occasionally amused by his humor.
Looking at her smile, Li Zhanchuan suddenly said seriously, "Chuyue, sometimes I feel that you are working very hard. There should be someone by your side who can share some of your pressure."
Lin Chuyue was taken aback, then chuckled, "Everyone has their own path to walk, and hardship is inevitable."
Li Zhanchuan raised his glass and gently clinked it against hers: "I hope your journey will not only be filled with hardship, but also with things worth looking forward to."
Lin Chuyue lowered her head and took a sip of wine, concealing the inexplicable emotion in her heart.
On the other side, Gu Yanchuan had just finished a high-level meeting and stepped out of the company building when he saw Luo Yurou standing at the door.
Holding a cup of coffee, she smiled broadly: "Brother Yanchuan, are you tired? I brought you something to perk you up."
Gu Yanchuan took the coffee and nodded slightly: "You didn't need to come all this way."
Luo Yurou blinked: "I was shopping nearby and thought you might not have rested yet, so I came over."
Gu Yanchuan looked up at her, a hint of tenderness in his eyes: "Thank you. Sometimes you always make people feel warm."
Luo Yurou smiled even sweeter: "That's because you deserve to be treated well by others."
The two walked side by side down the street, and Luo Yurou casually asked, "How is Sister Chuyue doing lately? She seems very busy."
Gu Yanchuan paused for a moment, then said, "She has her own goals, so it's understandable that she's busy."
Luo Yurou nodded slightly, her tone tinged with a hint of probing: "You two used to be engaged, do you find it a little strange to be together now?"
Gu Yanchuan smiled slightly and said calmly, "It's not strange, we're just walking our own paths."
A hint of joy flashed in Luo Yurou's eyes, as if she was satisfied with his answer.
A few days later, Lin Chuyue and Gu Yanchuan met again in the company's conference room. The two were exchanging opinions on some recent adjustments to the company, and their discussion was fraught with heated debate.
“This plan is too risky; we need a more reliable alternative,” Gu Yanchuan said, frowning.
Lin Chuyue retorted without backing down: "But the price of playing it safe is delay. What we need right now is speed."
The two argued fiercely, but in the end they both laughed.
"I must say, working with you, although tiring, is indeed very efficient." Gu Yanchuan leaned back in his chair, his tone revealing a genuine sense of appreciation.
Lin Chuyue chuckled: "You're the same. Although you're sometimes too serious, you're still a good partner."
Gu Yanchuan looked at her and suddenly said, "Chuyue, I don't think our relationship is just an ordinary business partnership."
Lin Chuyue was taken aback for a moment, then teased, "Oh? Are you still friends?"
Gu Yanchuan smiled and said in a relaxed tone, "You could call it a special kind of revolutionary friendship."
Lin Chuyue paused, a serious look appearing in her eyes: "Gu Yanchuan, I feel the same way. We are not working hard simply for ourselves, but for a bigger goal."
Their eyes met, and they seemed to reach some kind of tacit understanding at that moment.
After Lin Chuyue returned home, she saw a message from Li Zhanchuan: "How was work today? If you need to relax, feel free to contact me anytime."
She smiled and replied, "No need. We just had a meeting today, and our revolutionary friendship has been strengthened quite a bit."
Li Zhanchuan quickly replied, "Then it seems I'll have to work hard to make you feel something different about me."
Lin Chuyue stared at the message, paused slightly, and then replied, "Why has President Li become so eloquent lately?"
The other party quickly sent a voice message, their voice deep and serious: "You always need to put your heart into things for important people."
Upon hearing this, Lin Chuyue's heart skipped a beat.
Luo Yurou's sincerity, Li Zhanchuan's concern, Gu Yanchuan's revolutionary friendship... Lin Chuyue's life seems to be filled with different colors by these people.
But she understood that the real choice was up to her.
Pushing open the window and looking at the city lights, Lin Chuyue murmured to herself, "This time, I'm going to live for myself."
Unbeknownst to her, not far away, Li Zhanchuan and Gu Yanchuan were both contemplating everything related to her—their story was far from over.
