Chapter 135 Testing and Fluttering Heart
Chapter 135 Testing and Fluttering Heart
Lin Chuyue gradually established herself in the company, and this wasn't solely due to her own intelligence and abilities. She clearly understood the crucial role Li Zhanchuan's support played in critical moments. Although the two never explicitly discussed their feelings for each other, their unspoken understanding imbued every interaction with a deeper emotional resonance.
Meanwhile, some subtle changes were occurring in Gu Yanchuan's life. Shen Fang's failure and departure allowed him to temporarily detach himself from the complex power struggles. He began to focus on his own life again and started to acknowledge the existence of Luo Yurou.
That day, Luo Yurou took the initiative to invite him to visit an art exhibition themed "Moment and Eternity." The exhibition hall was softly lit, and the surrounding artworks emitted a warm, gentle glow under the lights. Luo Yurou wore a light blue long dress, her slightly curled hair falling over her shoulders, making her look both elegant and refreshing. She took Gu Yanchuan's arm and pointed to an abstract painting, saying, "Look, this painting is called 'A Moment of Eternity,' doesn't it perfectly match the theme?"
Gu Yanchuan's gaze shifted from the painting to her face, and he nodded gently: "Perhaps that's life. Many times, what truly moves us is something that happens in an instant."
Luo Yurou turned her head to look at him, her eyes sparkling: "Have you ever noticed moments like this before?"
Gu Yanchuan was slightly taken aback by her question. He was silent for a moment, then smiled faintly: "Perhaps not before, but now... I'll pay more attention."
A faint smile appeared on Luo Yurou's face, as if she were relieved, or as if some expectation had finally been answered. The two continued walking in the exhibition hall. The visitors around them were talking in hushed tones, but the atmosphere between them was so quiet that it was as if they were isolated from the outside world, with only the two of them remaining.
As they walked up to a landscape painting, Luo Yurou suddenly said, "Actually, I've always felt that you're a very special person." Her voice was soft, yet carried a hint of seriousness. "I hope to have more opportunities to see different sides of you."
Gu Yanchuan raised his eyebrows slightly, a faint smile appearing on his lips: "I also hope to have the opportunity to get to know you again."
Meanwhile, Lin Chuyue had just finished an important cooperation meeting. At the meeting, she successfully persuaded a senior shareholder to support her market reform plan. Although the process was difficult, her efforts finally paid off. When she returned to her office, Li Zhanchuan was already sitting on the sofa waiting for her. His long legs were casually crossed, one hand casually flipping through a magazine. Seeing her enter, he looked up, his tone indifferent yet with a hint of concern: "Tired?"
Lin Chuyue smiled slightly and placed the documents in her hand on the table: "Fortunately, the deal was reached."
Li Zhanchuan put down the magazine, stood up and walked to her, his eyes filled with admiration: "I told you long ago, you are more capable than I imagined."
Lin Chuyue raised an eyebrow slightly, her tone tinged with a hint of sarcasm: "Is that so? However, even the most capable person needs allies; otherwise, going it alone, they probably won't go far."
A faint smile appeared on Li Zhanchuan's lips, and his voice was deep: "So, I am your ally."
Lin Chuyue looked up at him, his deep eyes seeming to pierce through her defenses. She looked away, casually tidying the documents on the table, trying to make her tone sound more relaxed: "I've always been grateful for your support."
"Just gratitude?" Li Zhanchuan leaned closer, his voice low and husky. "Chu Yue, do you think our relationship is only about gratitude?"
Lin Chuyue's heart suddenly raced. She looked up, but quickly looked away the moment her eyes met his. "I didn't think that much about it." Her tone was slightly flustered, but she tried to remain calm. "You came to see me today, is there something you need?"
Looking at her consistently calm demeanor, a hint of helplessness flashed in Li Zhanchuan's eyes. He didn't press her further, but instead took out a document from a folder he had brought with him and handed it to her: "This is the investigation result you requested regarding the flow of funds."
Lin Chuyue took the documents, glanced through a few pages, and her gaze suddenly sharpened: "These funds were transferred overseas?"
“Yes,” Li Zhanchuan said calmly, “the funds began to be transferred several months before Shen Fang left. It seems she was prepared.”
Lin Chuyue's fingers tightened slightly on the documents, but her face remained calm: "She won't accept defeat."
Li Zhanchuan stared at her face, his voice softening slightly: "No matter what she does, I will help you deal with her."
Lin Chuyue looked up at his resolute gaze, and a warmth welled up in her heart. She whispered, "Thank you, Zhanchuan."
Li Zhanchuan smiled slightly, but said meaningfully, "If you really want to thank me, don't always treat me like someone who might leave at any time. I've said it before, I will always be with you, whether as a partner, or..." He paused deliberately, a hint of amusement in his eyes, "...in some other capacity."
Lin Chuyue was caught off guard by his words and before she could reply, Li Zhanchuan had already turned and left, leaving her standing there with mixed feelings.
Back home, Lin Chuyue opened the document Li Zhanchuan had given her, her brow furrowed. Although Shen Fang had left, the schemes and hidden dangers she had left behind in the company still existed, and the transferred funds were precisely where the most dangerous place lay.
"She will definitely come back," Lin Chuyue murmured to herself, a cold glint in her eyes.
She picked up her phone and dialed Gu Yanchuan's number: "Gu Yanchuan, I need to talk to you."
Gu Yanchuan, on the other end of the phone, was having dinner with Luo Yurou. He answered the phone, his tone slightly surprised: "Now?"
"Is tomorrow okay?" Lin Chuyue's voice remained calm, but it carried an undeniable firmness.
Gu Yanchuan was silent for a moment before replying, "Okay, see you tomorrow."
After hanging up the phone, he turned to look at Luo Yurou and found her gazing at him tenderly. "Is it about Lin Chuyue?" Luo Yurou's voice was soft, without reproach, only concern.
"Yes, it's about some company matters." Gu Yanchuan nodded, a complex look in his eyes.
Luo Yurou smiled slightly and said softly, "It's okay, work is important. Let's handle it properly tomorrow."
