Chapter 149 Gradual Warmth
Chapter 149 Gradual Warmth
After a heavy rain, the air was filled with the damp scent of earth. Lin Chuyue leaned against the balcony railing, gazing into the distance. The city lights shone brightly after the rain, as if the city's gloom had been swept away with Shen Fang's complete departure.
"What are you thinking about?" Li Zhanchuan's voice came from behind, deep and gentle.
Lin Chuyue turned around and saw him walking over with two steaming cups of coffee, his eyes filled with tenderness.
"I'm thinking about what to do next." Lin Chuyue took the coffee, took a small sip, and felt the warm liquid slide over her tongue, dispelling the chill in her body. "Shen Fang's matter has finally come to an end, but this is not the end, but perhaps a new beginning."
Li Zhanchuan stood beside her, his gaze softening as he looked at her: "Lin Chuyue, from the moment you chose to stand up, you were destined to be the winner. From now on, no matter what happens, I will be there for you."
Lin Chuyue turned to look at him, a complex emotion flashing in her eyes: "Zhan Chuan, why are you so good to me?"
A faint smile appeared on Li Zhanchuan's lips: "Because you deserve it."
Those three simple words sent a jolt through Lin Chuyue's heart. She lowered her head somewhat awkwardly, her heart racing. She didn't know if it was the warmth of the coffee or his gaze that made her blush.
On the other side, Gu Yanchuan had just come out of the company's conference room, carrying a stack of documents. His expression had been somewhat tired the whole way, but when he saw Luo Yurou, his eyes softened instantly.
Luo Yurou was standing at the company entrance, holding a delicate bouquet of flowers, seemingly waiting for him on purpose.
"Mr. Gu." Luo Yurou stepped forward and handed him the flowers with a smile. "Thank you for helping me solve my client's problem last time. This is just a small token of my appreciation."
Gu Yanchuan was somewhat surprised. He took the flowers, his tone a little awkward: "These little things aren't worth you making a special trip for."
“It’s a small thing for you, but it’s very important to me.” Luo Yurou looked up at him with clear eyes. “You’re always so considerate, of course I have to thank you.”
Gu Yanchuan paused for a few seconds, then said in a low voice, "You don't need to be so polite."
Luo Yurou smiled gently: "If I need any help in the future, can I still ask you for help?"
Gu Yanchuan nodded, a faint smile appearing on his lips: "Of course."
The two walked out of the company side by side. The night breeze was cool, but it carried a hint of warmth.
That evening, Lin Chuyue sat on the sofa, flipping through the documents in her hand. It was a detailed and comprehensive plan about the group's future development, given to her by Li Zhanchuan.
"Did you write these?" she asked, looking up with a hint of teasing.
Li Zhanchuan was leaning against the other side of the sofa, holding a book in his hand. Hearing this, he looked up and smiled: "I wrote it. So, aren't you impressed by my abilities?"
Lin Chuyue chuckled: "You're really impressive, but when did you start caring so much about my career?"
“From a long time ago.” Li Zhanchuan’s voice was deep and resolute, carrying an undeniable power. “Didn’t I tell you? As long as it’s something you care about, I will do my best.”
Lin Chuyue paused for a moment, then lowered her head to hide her reaction and continued flipping through the documents. Her heart, however, warmed slightly at his words, a sense of security she had never felt before slowly enveloping her.
Back home, Gu Yanchuan sat in his study, the bouquet in front of him still emitting a faint fragrance. He stared at the flowers, and Luo Yurou's smile involuntarily surfaced in his mind.
He rarely felt this complex emotion towards others, admiring her intelligence and persistence while also finding her frankness and warmth refreshing.
Gu Yanchuan picked up his phone, hesitated for a moment, and then dialed Luo Yurou's number.
The call was quickly answered, and Luo Yurou's voice carried a hint of surprise: "President Gu, what's up so late?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to ask if you got home safely?" His voice sounded calm, but it concealed a tenderness that even he himself was unaware of.
Luo Yurou smiled and said, "I'm home now, thank you for your concern."
Gu Yanchuan paused for a moment, then said in a low voice, "If you need anything in the future, you can contact me anytime."
"Okay." Luo Yurou responded softly, a hint of sweetness rising in her heart.
That day, Lin Chuyue was looking through documents until very late. The moonlight streaming into the room from the window cast a soft glow on her profile.
Li Zhanchuan walked over and gently draped a shawl over her shoulders: "Don't overwork yourself, there are still many things to deal with tomorrow."
Lin Chuyue looked up at him, a smile playing on her lips: "I'm fine, I just want to finish dealing with these things as soon as possible."
Li Zhanchuan looked down at her, his gaze deep and gentle: "Don't push yourself too hard, I don't want you to exhaust yourself."
Lin Chuyue was slightly taken aback, then said softly, "Zhanchuan, you are really good."
Li Zhanchuan gently held her hand, his tone earnest and warm: "Then are you willing to let me continue to treat you this well?"
Lin Chuyue looked up at him, a hint of shyness flashing in her eyes, but she did not avoid his gaze. After a moment, she nodded gently.
The night breeze rustled through the window curtains, bringing a gentle fragrance. The two looked at each other and smiled, as if all their weariness and worries had been dispelled in that moment.
