Chapter 207 Hidden
Chapter 207 Hidden
Night had fallen, and Lin Chuyue returned to Li Zhanchuan's villa. Only a warm yellow light remained in the spacious living room, illuminating the night view outside the window; the twinkling stars, however, paled in comparison to the coldness in her eyes.
Li Zhanchuan walked over with a cup of hot tea, placed it on the table in front of her, and leaned down slightly: "You seem to be in a good mood tonight."
Lin Chuyue gently raised her eyes, took the teacup and sipped it. As the tea aroma wafted up, her tone revealed a hint of amusement: "Luo Yurou's performance tonight shows that she's starting to get anxious."
"In a hurry?" Li Zhanchuan sat down beside her, crossed his legs, and a thoughtful look flashed in his eyes. "She seems quite calm."
Lin Chuyue chuckled softly, but her tone carried a hint of certainty: "The more composed a person appears, the more likely they are to be concealing their inner turmoil. Tonight, Luo Yurou is intentionally trying to win over several shareholders of Tianyuan Capital, even going so far as to proactively signal cooperation. A person who truly controls the situation would not easily reveal such a proactive stance."
Li Zhanchuan pondered for a moment, then nodded: "You mean, there's a problem with her resource supply chain?"
“You could say that,” Lin Chuyue put down her teacup, leaned forward slightly, and said with a sharp look in her eyes, “Luo Yurou relies too much on Tianyuan Capital’s investment. Capital is profit-driven, and once her backers realize that there are hidden dangers in her plans, they will definitely reconsider their investment direction. Her urgency tonight is sending a signal to capital—she is still trustworthy.”
"Therefore, the more at ease she appears, the more it reveals her sense of crisis." Li Zhanchuan's tone was low, his words brief yet incisive.
Lin Chuyue nodded: "But we can't underestimate her. She's better at resolving crises than anyone else. The key is to make her crisis irreversible."
Li Zhanchuan's eyes flickered slightly: "You already have a plan?"
Lin Chuyue smiled slightly but did not answer. Instead, she turned around and took out a document from her bag and handed it to Li Zhanchuan: "These are some things I recently found out. There is indeed a fund circulating behind Luo Yurou, but the source is very unclear. Moreover, it seems that this fund has been targeted by some people."
Li Zhanchuan took the document, flipped through a few pages, and his brows gradually furrowed: "The source of this funding is an offshore account, and it involves a series of complex asset operations. It seems that the person behind her is not simple."
“It’s certainly not simple.” Lin Chuyue leaned back on the sofa, her hands folded, her eyes calm. “But that’s precisely why we need to find a breakthrough. Offshore accounts are difficult to trace, but they’re not without clues. As long as we can find one loophole, we can expose the real power hidden behind her.”
Li Zhanchuan closed the file, his gaze filled with admiration: "You are even more meticulous than I imagined."
Lin Chuyue chuckled lightly: "If you're in this game, you have to see further and think more than others. Otherwise, you'll either be eaten up or kicked out of the game."
Li Zhanchuan was silent for a moment, then suddenly reached out and gently ruffled the top of her head, his gesture filled with a hint of doting: "You, don't always push yourself so hard. You're not fighting alone."
Lin Chuyue was slightly taken aback. Looking at the rare tenderness in his eyes, a faint smile appeared on her lips: "Having an ally like you makes things much easier."
Li Zhanchuan chuckled, but his gaze suddenly deepened: "Allies? I'm not satisfied with that title."
Lin Chuyue was speechless for a moment, lowered her eyes, picked up her teacup to hide her subtle emotions: "Then what do you want?"
Li Zhanchuan looked at her, his voice low and firm: "The only one."
The air fell silent instantly. Lin Chuyue did not respond, but her slightly trembling eyelashes betrayed the turmoil in her heart.
Late at night, Lin Chuyue returned to her room and stood by the window gazing at the moonlight outside, but Li Zhanchuan's words kept echoing in her mind.
“The only one…” she repeated softly, a faint bitter smile appearing on her lips.
She dared not delve into her feelings for Li Zhanchuan, because she knew that in this struggle for power and revenge, emotions were a luxury. Moreover, she was unsure whether she could truly bear the cost of losing him.
But Li Zhanchuan's deep eyes were like a brand, impossible to erase from her memory.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Luo Yurou stood on the hotel balcony, a glass of red wine in her hand, gazing intently at the distant night view. Her subordinate stood beside her and respectfully said, "We just received news that someone is investigating our cash flow, seemingly intending to trace the source of our offshore accounts."
Luo Yurou frowned slightly, her tone cold yet sharp: "Who is investigating?"
"It's not clear yet, but Lin Chuyue and Li Zhanchuan are the most suspicious."
Luo Yurou was silent for a moment, then a cold smile appeared on her lips: "Lin Chuyue is indeed not simple." She turned around, her eyes flashing with a complicated light, "However, if she thinks I will be defeated by her so easily, she is too naive."
She raised her glass, took a small sip, and murmured, "Since you want to play, then I'll play with you to the very end."
