Chapter 144 Finding Lu Xiao
Chapter 144 Finding Lu Xiao
“If that’s how you want to understand it, that’s fine too.” Shen Wantang went along with her and continued the conversation.
"Sure, go ahead if you want. Aren't your godparents home?" Ye Shi'an was genuinely puzzled. Why did they have to call her when there were so many other people around?
Shen Wantang smiled shyly: "My parents also went on a trip. I don't know why they suddenly went with me."
“The main problem is that Ji Yushi is away on a business trip, but he won’t be back for a few days, so I’m planning to go visit him. An’an, please help me!” Shen Wantang grabbed her hand, as if she wouldn’t let go unless Ye Shi’an agreed.
Having no other choice, Ye Shi'an could only nod in agreement: "Fine, go ahead! You two go and enjoy yourselves, don't worry about me!"
"If you're really bored, you can ask Ji Jinghuai to come keep you company. I'm sure he'd be happy to." Shen Wantang said as she stood up, preparing to pack her things and leave.
"No way, you're going now?" Ye Shi'an was stunned by her actions. That was incredibly fast!
Shen Wantang grinned: "To see my husband, of course I have to run faster."
Ye Shi'an couldn't bear to look: "Get out!"
"Okay!" Shen Wantang picked up her bag and left the company directly. She returned to the manor first, changed out of her work clothes, and put on some clothes that were easier to move in.
She also checked Ji Yushi's location. With his location, Shen Wantang immediately ordered a helicopter to be prepared, as they might not be able to find Ji Yushi if they went there now.
Because the location she checked was only the last place Ji Yushi appeared in. If it didn't keep updating to a new location, then Ji Yushi's phone was no longer on him or was broken.
The last location was in a remote mountain village, and it was a small mountain village in a foreign country.
Shen Wantang didn't have any particularly strong weapons; the most formidable thing she had was a dagger.
As soon as she entered the village, she was pointed at and whispered about by the villagers. Outsiders rarely came into their village; usually, it meant something had happened.
What's the matter? They've come looking for someone.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" A gray-haired man walked over and asked in broken Mandarin.
Shen Wantang looked him up and down: "Are you a villager here?" She thought for a moment and then spoke fluently in the local language.
In her previous life, she was fluent in all the languages, and she hasn't forgotten them yet!
"You speak our language?" The gray-haired man was somewhat shocked. Their area was considered remote, so it was truly unbelievable that someone would learn their language.
"Yes, I wanted to ask if anyone from out of town has come here in the last few days?" Shen Wantang nodded, not sensing any danger from the man in front of her, so she remained quite relaxed.
The man's eyes flickered, then he shook his head: "I haven't seen anyone come. How could anyone come to our little village, except for you, of course."
[Host, this man's name is Xiaobai. He has a younger sister named Xiaoyun. However, while helping the family grow vegetables, Xiaoyun accidentally fell down a hillside and broke her leg. But the family is too poor to afford treatment.]
[I'm still lying at home, in excruciating pain every day.]
Shen Wantang frowned. Her leg was broken, and she didn't even go to see a doctor. How much pain must the little girl be in!
"Tell me the truth, and I'll help you save your sister." To save time, Shen Wantang didn't waste any more words and stated her conditions directly.
Xiao Bai was shocked. How did this outsider know that he had a sister, and even knew that his sister was injured?
How can it be?
"Don't doubt it, I know your sister's leg is broken and your family is struggling financially. If you're willing to tell me the truth, I can give you 500,000 yuan so you can go to the hospital to save your sister."
"Besides, it's unnecessary. I don't want the rest of the money; consider it all yours." Shen Wantang could tell from his suspicious look that he clearly didn't believe her.
But there was nothing she could do; what she said was true.
"How...how did you know I have a younger sister, and that my sister really did break her leg?" Xiaobai was genuinely puzzled.
"Just consider me a fortune teller. Good people are blessed by heaven. I am your sister's benefactor. The decision is in your hands. You decide for yourself. I'll only give you one minute." Shen Wantang raised an eyebrow, sometimes having to invoke her status as a metaphysical master.
After struggling with the decision for a moment, Xiaobai decided that her younger sister was more important: "I saw it."
"I saw two groups of outsiders. The first group seemed to be fleeing for their lives, and the second group was chasing them. They went towards the back mountain, but my family is still hiding someone." Xiaobai told the truth, for the sake of his sister.
"I don't know if that person is good or bad. You can go and see for yourself, and then decide for yourself."
Xiao Bai led her all the way back to his home, which was made of piled stones and looked rather dilapidated.
Once inside, one could see right to the bottom. Shen Wantang saw a little girl, about six or seven years old, lying on the bed. She was pale and very thin.
Immediately following was a man who was about 1.8 meters tall, sitting on the ground with a black coat covering his face.
Not knowing who this man was, Shen Wantang dared not make any rash moves.
Shen Wantang nodded to Xiaobai, signaling him to speak.
"Little sister, I'm back." Xiaobai walked to the bedside, looking at her poor little sister with eyes full of tenderness.
The man on the ground finally reacted; he slowly reached out and pulled the clothes off his face.
"Lu Xiao!!" Shen Wantang breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing the familiar face. She quickly stepped forward and asked, "How are you? Are you alright?"
The moment Lu Xiao saw Shen Wantang, he thought he was hallucinating: "Sister-in-law, why are you here?"
"Am I hallucinating?"
Shen Wantang shook her head: "No, it really is me! Where is Ji Yushi?"
"Holy crap! Sister-in-law, when did you get here? Are you out of your mind? Come here!" Lu Xiao was so excited that he tried to get up from the ground, but the gunshot wound in his abdomen made him grimace in pain.
"You're injured, let me see." Shen Wantang didn't explain the problem, then lifted his clothes: "Has the bullet been removed?"
Lu Xiao's face was still pale, and he shook his head slightly: "Not yet, there are no suitable tools here."
“But if the bullet isn’t removed, the wound is very likely to get infected. Well, luckily I brought some simple tools with me.” Shen Wantang put down her backpack and took out a bottle of alcohol and a pair of pliers.
"It might hurt a little, just bear with it." Shen Wantang opened the alcohol rubbing device and prepared to disinfect him.
