Chapter 192 Sword Control
Chapter 192 Sword Control
"Lin Fan, kid, we had a good chat last night. I'm in a good mood today and was just about to go for a walk. How about I give you a ride?" Bo Wang forced a strange smile onto his face.
The knight who brought the message quickly dismounted. "Lord Anle, there are other people here. Please put away your supernatural powers first."
"I've looked like this since I was born, and you, a kid who's not even a hundred years old, are already trying to tell me what to do." Although King Bo said this, he still withdrew his hand after Lin Fan dismounted.
Lin Fan bowed to King Bo in thanks, then jumped onto his saddleless horse without hesitation.
"Where?"
"Wujiang County Government Office"
"okay."
The horse, Bo Wang, which was much larger than an ordinary horse, rode off in a cloud of dust with its four long legs.
The knight was about to follow when Chen Ergou and Niu Dadan stopped him and asked what had happened.
"Kid, you're really lucky today. Normally, apart from the royal family, no one else is qualified to ride me." King Bo spoke, his voice clearly reaching Lin Fan's ears.
Lin Fan naturally thanked him profusely before asking, "Brother Ma, won't you get into trouble for leaving without permission?"
"What is it?" King Bo sneered. "I already said that no one is restricting my freedom. I stay there simply because I like the treatment there, plus the fact that I have a long-standing friendship with the Duan family. To be honest, I wouldn't sleep as soundly anywhere else."
Lin Fan nodded; he could easily imagine the predicament of the Prince of Bo.
King Bo then said, “You have another stroke of luck. I am the King of Horses in the world. You rode me today, and your horsemanship will surely improve greatly in the future.”
Lin Fan held the horse's mane, feeling incredibly safe and secure on its smooth back. The ride was bumpy, of course, but his body naturally moved in sync with the horse's movements.
Zi Yue initially had her arm around Lin Fan's waist, sitting behind him. Later, she seemed to find the ride too bumpy and jumped off the horse. Lian Bu, stepping on the black blade, followed closely beside the horse.
The black blade was too small, so Ziyue had to stand on tiptoe to step on it.
Normally, Lin Fan would have been incredibly envious; although it was a dagger, it allowed him to fly on a sword. However, Lin Fan had no such thoughts now; he just wanted to get there quickly. He couldn't even explain why he was in such a hurry, nor could he explain what he was looking forward to at his destination.
After Lin Fan left, Niu Dadan borrowed a horse and set off with the riders who had been left behind. Chen Ergou drove the carriage behind them, carrying Doctor Lei and Sun Ruolan.
Boom!
A loud gavel sounded.
"Who in the hall is suing me?"
Magistrate Cao yawned and said.
The clerk in charge of recording the cases flickered his wrist and drew a huge ink dot on the paper.
Magistrate Cao then realized that he had inadvertently spoken his true feelings, so he changed his words and said, "Old Liu, you have been beating this drum for seven days. What great injustice have you suffered? Tell me."
Upon hearing this, the old man kneeling on the ground quickly kowtowed twice before crying out, "Magistrate, I have been wronged!"
He pointed to a middle-aged man in a brocade robe beside him and said, "This man surnamed Chen stole my family's land."
The middle-aged man surnamed Chen shook his folding fan, stood up and bowed to the county magistrate, "Your Honor, I was once a student at the county school, and now I run a small business. This old man Liu's matter has nothing to do with me, I..."
Before he could finish speaking, Old Man Liu burst into tears, pointing to a mother and son kneeling beside him, and said, "Magistrate, Your Honor, after my son died, my daughter-in-law took our land deeds and went to live with that son of a bitch surnamed Chen. How could it not be that he forcibly took it? Without that wicked son backing her up, how could that whore dare to do such a thing!"
Before he could finish speaking, the woman beside him also started crying, vying to speak to the old man. The scene became chaotic, and it was even difficult to hear what they were saying.
Boom boom boom!
A few more blows of the gavel. The room fell silent instantly.
"Alright, alright, I've read the petition. I don't need you all arguing down there." Magistrate Cao picked at his ear and continued, "And no swearing in court! Slap yourself!"
The constable closest to Old Liu put down his long stick, picked him up, and slapped him twice across the face. Old Liu's thin face instantly swelled up, and blood streamed from his nose. He didn't bother wiping it away, kneeling on the ground in terror, his head pressed to the ground, speechless.
Magistrate Cao was satisfied and continued, "This matter is very simple. Old Liu, didn't you hand over your land to your son a long time ago? He is also your only son, isn't that right?"
Old Liu simply said "yes," and before he could continue, Magistrate Cao slammed his gavel again and said, "What else is there to say? In this world, only the son succeeds the father, not the other way around. Your son is dead, so the land should go to your grandson. Your grandson's surname is Liu, not Chen. What grounds do you have to sue?"
Old Liu, of course, refused to give up. After kowtowing twice, he cautiously said, "Your Excellency, there's something fishy about this. This woman... this woman gave birth to my son's child after only eight months of marriage. And my son's death was also suspicious. He was perfectly healthy, and then he suddenly disappeared."
Old Liu burst into tears at this point.
Magistrate Cao took a sip of tea and remained silent. The registrar put down his pen and added, "Old Liu, you shouldn't have brought your private affairs to court. Besides, you've already filed a complaint about your son before. But your son choked to death on a sesame ball, and he even bought it himself. How can you blame someone else?"
Old Liu was momentarily stunned by what he was being said. He desperately tried to recall the words his lawyer had made him memorize before he arrived. Before Magistrate Cao could shout, "Sign and seal, case closed," he finally spoke again.
“Your Honor, even so, this Tang woman should not have taken the land deed and gone to the Chen family. She is my daughter-in-law. Now that my son is gone, she should stay at home to respect her elders and support her young child.”
The woman kneeling on the ground kept crying, and finally cried out loud, "Your Excellency, this old man Liu is a beast! My husband just died, and he started to lay a hand on me. How can I stay in this house any longer?"
She then looked at Manager Chen standing to the side, "He is my cousin. I grew up in his house. If I don't go back to my parents' home, am I going to let this old man Liu ruin my reputation?"
Upon hearing this, Magistrate Cao smiled and said, "Old Liu, you're really letting your dead son down. You tried to climb the wall but ended up with a mouthful of dust, haha."
Old Liu quickly protested, "Old man, I didn't do such a despicable thing."
thump.
Another thud of the gavel, "What, does this young woman intend to use her own innocence to slander you?"
Old Liu knew he couldn't argue this point, so he continued, following the lawyer's advice, saying, "Then you can leave, but why did you take my grandson with you!"
Before the woman could speak, Magistrate Cao said, "Your grandson is not even a year old yet, how can you bear to separate mother and child? Old Liu, you have a heart of stone."
Old Liu was blocked at every turn, so he had no choice but to use his last resort: "Your Honor, I suspect that this child is the offspring of that man surnamed Chen. I beg you to perform a blood test on him in court."
