Chapter 192 Quarrel
Chapter 192 Quarrel
Yan Zuozuo's firm attitude startled Chi Moqing. After a pause, he decided to be honest. "Do you remember my cousin Meng Xinyu?" He reached out to take Yan Zuozuo's hand, but she shook him off. She glared at him. "You mean she's your cousin? If she's your cousin, why are you being so evasive? Chi Moqing, do you think I'm a three-year-old?"
"I haven't finished speaking yet..." Chi Moqing's voice was muffled, and she looked at Yan Zuozuo with some grievance, "She is my aunt's daughter, but not her biological daughter..."
"She likes you?" Yan Zuozuo looked at him in astonishment, not knowing where the question came from.
She was just saying it casually, but unexpectedly, Chi Moqing nodded awkwardly: "Actually, she doesn't like me. She's just a lovesick fool. She likes all the good-looking guys. She's a bit vain and always likes to flirt with handsome men to show off her charm."
Yan Zuozuo frowned: "But you two are cousins!"
"She doesn't think so..."
Her values!
Yan Zuozuo gritted her teeth. Wait, the topic seems to have gone astray. She took a deep breath and brought the subject back on track. "That's not the point. What I wanted to say was, why did you turn off your phone?" If you weren't feeling guilty, why would you turn it off?
Chi Moqing was taken aback and quickly took out his phone. He suddenly remembered Meng Xinyu's sneaky behavior when he returned to the office. He hadn't paid attention at the time, but it turned out she had secretly turned off his phone.
He pursed his lips and said, "Wife, I was wrong. It was my fault. Please don't be angry. I will warn her in the future."
"You knew I would be angry, yet you still did it?" Yan Zuozuo felt a pang of bitterness in her heart, as if she had fallen into a vat of vinegar.
Chi Moqing opened his mouth, but couldn't find a reasonable explanation. Yes, knowing his wife would be angry, how could he be so careless?
Seeing his dazed look, Yan Zuozuo took a deep breath and said, "Don't change the subject, why did you turn off your phone?"
Chi Moqing's handsome face turned cold: "It wasn't me who turned off the phone. I guess she was worried that I wouldn't go to dinner with her, so she turned it off when I wasn't looking."
Yan Zuozuo rolled her eyes: "President Chi, your phone is such a private thing, why is it always being tampered with by others? Last time it was Secretary Park, now it's your cousin, I'm starting to suspect..." She suddenly paused, as if realizing she had said the wrong thing, and didn't continue.
Anyway, she was very angry and jealous. After all, Chi Moqing was her husband, but things always went wrong.
Chi Moqing didn't press further, knowing full well that some things said in the heat of the moment can hurt feelings. He pursed his thin lips and after a long while said, "Wife, I'm sorry."
“You haven’t wronged me. I just don’t want to keep arguing with you about this kind of thing. I’ve always been honest with you about everything, but you always seem to want to hide things from me, which makes me uncomfortable. I feel it’s unfair, and maybe I won’t want to be honest with you anymore.” Yan Zuozuo spoke directly, her eyes fixed on him.
Chi Moqing listened quietly, and only said after he finished speaking, "Wife, I know I was wrong, and I promise you it won't happen again."
"We're going to spend our lives together, and only by being honest with each other can we avoid misunderstandings. That's why I've always done this, and I hope you can be honest with me too. If you can't do that, don't try to demand it of me in the future!"
"I understand." Chi Moqing looked at her seriously. "I will tell my wife everything from now on. I was wrong today, and I have decided to make it up to her."
Yan Zuozuo was speechless. Why could President Chi always manage to steer a very serious topic to a less serious one?
"Honey, you must be angry tonight and didn't eat properly. I'll go make you a nice meal first, then we'll take a bath and I'll make you pay for it with my body, okay?"
Cough, cough, cough!
As soon as Chi Moqing uttered the words "pay me back with your body," Yan Zuozuo choked, her face turning bright red. She waved her hands repeatedly, "No, no need. It's good that you deeply realize your mistake. I'll go cook..."
Chi Moqing grabbed her hand: "Wife, you don't need to be polite with me. I'm willing to accept any kind of punishment, whether it's mental or physical. As long as my wife can think of it, I'll accept it all." He got up and pressed Yan Zuozuo down on the bed. "Take your time thinking. I'll go cook and call you when it's done."
Spiritual or physical?
Why does her mind always wander to things she shouldn't be thinking about?
Suddenly, Yan Zuozuo jumped out of bed guiltily, quickly shaking off the chaotic and inappropriate images that filled her mind. Whew, she absolutely couldn't stay in the bedroom anymore; she needed to go out for some fresh air.
As soon as she stepped into the living room, her phone rang. It was an unknown number.
After hesitating for a moment, she pressed the answer button, and a coquettish scolding voice immediately came from the other end, "Yan Zuozuo, you are so shameless! You stole my cousin and are still entangled with Young Master Ou. You vixen, I hate you so much!"
Yan Zuozuo was stunned. Who was this person who started cursing right away?
The other person's voice was very loud, and Yan Zuozuo happened to be walking to the kitchen doorway. Chi Moqing frowned slightly, raised an eyebrow, took her phone, and turned on the speakerphone.
"Let me tell you, you'd better have some self-respect, or I'll go tell Auntie that you're a womanizer and having an affair. Don't think your cousin is fooled by you. We're all blind. You're just a restless woman, and one day I'll make him see your true colors and divorce you!"
Yan Zuozuo glared angrily at the phone, snatched it away, and said, "Then hurry up and tell your cousin, he's right here!" After saying that, she threw the phone to Chi Moqing.
Meng Xinyu was stunned and hadn't come to her senses when she heard Chi Moqing say angrily, "No need to say anything, I heard everything. Starting tomorrow, you don't need to go to work!"
"Cousin... don't misunderstand, I didn't mean it..." Hearing Chi Moqing's voice, Meng Xinyu quickly explained. But Chi Moqing immediately cut off the call and walked to Yan Zuozuo's side with a guilty look on his face.
Yan Zuozuo looked at him angrily: "Where are my cousins? Is it really okay for President Chi to be so heartless?"
Chi Moqing squatted down beside her, his face turning pale and then flushed. "Wife, I really know I was wrong."
Yan Zuozuo had no intention of forgiving him. She pushed him away and headed towards the bedroom, saying, "Eat by yourself, I'm not hungry." But after taking a couple of steps, she seemed to have figured something out. She suddenly stopped, turned around, and squinted at Chi Moqing, "Cousin...then why did you transfer her from the secretary position? Or did she do something?"
Chi Moqing froze, speechless for a long time. How was he supposed to tell his wife that Meng Xinyu had taken off her clothes in his office, trying to seduce him?
He didn't dare tell Chi's mother about this embarrassing matter. After all, Meng Xinyu was a girl, and his younger sister whom he had watched grow up; it would damage his reputation.
Seeing his reaction, Yan Zuozuo understood and turned to walk directly towards the front door instead of the bedroom.
Chi Moqing was stunned for a moment, then quickly chased after her. "Wife!" He hugged her tightly in his arms, as if afraid she would run away, and quickly said, "Wife, don't be angry. It was my fault. I'll explain to you, I'll be honest with you, okay?"
Yan Zuozuo's chest heaved with anger. She shoved him away and said angrily, "Do you always have to wait until the truth comes out before you apologize and confess to me? Chi Moqing, let me tell you, I..."
Yan Zuozuo pointed at him, but after stammering "I" for a long time, she couldn't utter a single word. Finally, she clenched her fists angrily and walked towards the bedroom with red eyes.
Chi Moqing saw the tears in her eyes and felt extremely distressed. He quickly chased after her and grabbed her arm, "Wife..."
"You don't need to say anything more. It's my fault. You gave me a home, and now I'm becoming more and more demanding. To be honest, you say you've always liked me, but even I don't know what you like about me. You're a big CEO, and I'm just a woman with nothing now, even my mother is dead..."
She became increasingly upset as she spoke, her head bowed and her voice muffled, "Fine, do whatever you want. You don't need to explain or confess to me. I'm tired, I'm going to sleep for a while."
She tried to shake off Chi Moqing's hand, but he held it tightly, his face filled with pain. "You're not allowed to say that!" He hugged her tightly. "As long as it's yours, I'll love it all, good or bad, strengths or weaknesses. There's no why, I don't want anyone but you!"
Yan Zuozuo nestled against his chest, listening to his resolute words, her heart pounding uncontrollably, knowing he was telling the truth. She pursed her lips, her mind a jumble of confusion, unable to understand why so many people had suddenly appeared to disrupt her simple, happy life. She had never been good at handling trouble, and these kinds of days only made her feel irritable.
"Honey, no matter what others say, you'll always be my most beloved wife. Please don't say hurtful things like that in the future, okay?"
Yan Zuozuo bit her lip, knowing she had gone too far. She sniffed and said, "I always thought you were mine alone. Now that Cai Qingqing is gone, I can have you completely. But now I realize that so many people covet my husband. I feel anxious, uneasy, and jealous. I don't know why I feel this way." She sounded very aggrieved, her eyes filled with tears. "Husband, am I really that annoying?"
Chi Moqing smiled, relieved to see that she had finally softened. He hugged her and said tenderly, "My wife doesn't hate me at all. As long as you don't say you're leaving me, I still enjoy seeing my wife jealous. It's so charming."
"Nonsense!" Yan Zuozuo slapped him. "Then you can't hide anything from me from now on, or I'll start overthinking."
"Okay, I'll listen to my wife in everything and tell you everything."
"Then, can we cook now?" Her stomach rumbled, just as expected. She had just said she wasn't hungry and wouldn't eat, but now her stomach was growling. How pathetic!
Chi Moqing chuckled softly and reached out to pinch her nose. "Okay, you can watch TV in the living room for a while, I'll go cook."
"No, I want to cook with you." Yan Zuozuo said coquettishly, hugging his waist like a spoiled child.
Chi Moqing smiled indulgently, "Women all love beauty, are you sure you want to be my range hood?"
Yan Zuozuo blinked, immediately pushed him away, snorted and said, "Then you should go by yourself, lest I become a haggard old woman while you flaunt your mistress outside."
"I can't even handle having you as my first wife, let alone a concubine." He patted her head. "Alright, go watch TV." With that, he turned and went into the kitchen.
An hour later, Chi Moqing set dinner on the table: four dishes and a soup, all with perfect color, aroma, and taste.
Yan Zuozuo was drooling as she looked at it, and without any regard for her image, she started to grab it. Chi Moqing slapped her away, saying, "Wash your hands first."
"It's so delicious, I don't want to wash it." Yan Zuozuo giggled.
Helpless, Chi Moqing turned and went to the bathroom to get a towel, then carefully wiped her down. Before leaving, he reached out and poked her forehead, saying, "You!"
Just as Yan Zuozuo was enjoying her meal, she suddenly remembered how Chi Moqing had cut steak for Meng Xinyu. Her heart ached, and her eyes were filled with reproach as she looked at him.
