Chapter 899 Trapped

Villain Ch 899. Trapped

"A dead end," Allen muttered as he came to a halt, staring at the wall before him. The path he had chosen had led him nowhere. He exhaled a long breath, the sound filled with frustration and resignation. This meant he would have to retrace his steps to the last intersection and choose another route.

The realization was disheartening. The path had seemed straightforward, but the labyrinthine nature of the dungeon meant that even the simplest routes could be deceptive. Some roads looped back on themselves, converging with other paths in confusing ways. The lack of clear left and right directions made navigation a constant challenge

Allen had just turned around to retrace his steps when the game system flashed a red box with a glaring warning sign in front of him.

[Warning! A horde of monsters has appeared!]

His heart rate quickened as he flicked his gaze forward, the once-empty path now filled with dozens—no, hundreds—of pairs of small red eyes flickering in the darkness. All of them were directed at him, glowing menacingly.

"An ambush," Allen muttered under his breath, his mind racing. "They didn't say anything about this." He briefly considered that maybe the girls hadn't taken this route, which was why they hadn't encountered this horde.

He had no time to ponder further. The insect monsters began to move, their chittering growing louder as they advanced. Their dog-sized bodies skittered along the stone floor, their pincers snapping and mandibles clacking in a cacophony of imminent violence. The narrow, twisting path left little room for maneuvering, forcing Allen to stand his ground.

"Fine," he said with a dark grin. "Let's see what you've got."

With practiced precision, he met the first lunging mantis mid-air. His blade cut through its chitinous armor with a clean, swift motion, splitting the creature in half before it could reach him.

[You just stole 180 HP points!]

That announcement confirmed that the sword's Life Steal ability was activated and functioning.

He spun around, his movements fluid yet powerful, and slashed at the next attacker, the sword slicing through the worm-like creature's slimy body, spilling its internal fluids onto the ground.

Another mantis came at him from the side, its scythe-like forelegs aimed at his torso. Allen sidestepped and parried the attack with a sharp upward stroke of his sword. The mantis stumbled, momentarily off-balance, and Allen took the opportunity to deliver a devastating diagonal slash, severing its forelegs and sending it crashing to the floor.

The corridor was a flurry of motion and sound as Allen continued to fight, his sword dancing through the air. He moved with precision and dodged a worm's attempt to latch onto his leg, bringing his blade down in a brutal arc that cleaved its head from its body. The horde, relentless in their aggression, kept coming, but Allen's resolve did not waver.

A trio of mantises lunged at him in unison, their movements synchronized in a deadly attack. Allen's eyes flashed as he met them head-on. He deflected the first attack with a quick flick of his wrist, activating his Telekinesis Blast, but two of them managed to dodge.

He raised his arm, his sword clanging against the second mantis's scythe. He then pivoted on his heel, delivering a backhanded slash that caught the second mantis across the thorax, its body splitting open in a spray of green ichor.

The third mantis lunged, its red eyes glowing with rage, but Allen ducked low, his sword slicing upward in a powerful motion that impaled the creature through the abdomen. He yanked the blade free, and the mantis fell lifelessly to the ground.

The remaining monsters hesitated, their ranks thinning under Allen's relentless assault. He took a moment to assess the situation, his breath steady and controlled despite the intensity of the battle. Blood and ichor coated the floor, the smell of burnt flesh hanging heavy in the air. But a second later, he summoned his skill again. "Demonic orbs..."
