Chapter 1358: 50 My Original Wish
Chapter 1358: 50 My Original Wish
Chapter 1358: Chapter 50 My Original WishJiang Wang was still inside the Taixu Illusion Realm when he exited, and the puppy was still there.
The Iron Fruit had naturally been devoured clean, with not even the peel left behind. Little Grey was still licking the floor.
Jiang Wang took off the Hidden Clothes and beckoned to it, “Come here!”
Little Grey’s wagging tail suddenly stopped. It turned its head and saw Jiang Wang in the corner. Immediately becoming wary, it spun around, pressed its limbs to the floor, bared its teeth at Jiang Wang, and emitted a low growl in warning.
Jiang Wang looked at it amused. “You little thing, you eat my food and still show me attitude?”
Little Grey obviously couldn’t understand what he was saying, but it seemed to sense that the stranger before it was not intimidated by its threats.
So, it immediately began barking.
Woof woof woof!
What a promising guard dog!
Jiang Wang laughed with satisfaction. “Shout all you like. Shout until your voice breaks, and no one will come to save you!”
With his ability to control sound, confining the barking of this little dog to the loft was far too simple.
Little Grey barked for half a day without summoning any help. Clearly, it was growing anxious. It tucked its tail and ran downstairs in defeat, ceding its territory.
Jiang Wang took out an Iron Fruit and bit into it.
The fragrance instantly filled the air.
The figure of Little Grey, which had already reached the staircase, instantly froze.
It turned its head, sniffed greedily, and then trotted over to Jiang Wang, wagging its little tail enthusiastically.
It had obviously recognized the fruit that had completely captivated its senses.
Jiang Wang lazily leaned back, taking another bite.
Little Grey ran closer, almost drooling with desire, but it dared not act out of turn. It hopped around nervously in front of Jiang Wang, wagging its tail like a windmill, mouth open, tongue lolling, looking foolishly endearing.
Jiang Wang finished the fruit cleanly in a few bites and clapped his hands. “No more.”
Little Grey immediately stopped bouncing. Its tail also stopped wagging, and its round eyes stared at Jiang Wang, clearly full of confusion… and hurt.
“That’s what you get for growling at me,” Jiang Wang said with a triumphant laugh. He stood up and said, “I’m leaving, your territory is yours again.”
His Ruyi Immortal Clothes, reduced to tattered rags, was truly an eyesore. Yet they required absorbing energy from their host for self-repair, meaning they couldn’t be taken off.
Though hailed across the realm as the foremost genius of the Inner Mansion, wearing such a ragged outfit was undeniably unseemly.
Jiang Wang rummaged through his Storage Box and found a fresh robe to wear over the outside. It wasn’t particularly comfortable, but until the Ruyi Immortal Clothes completed their repairs, he had no other choice.
He strode directly out the door.
“Whimper whimper whimper.”
Little Grey dashed back to his feet again.
It alternated between dashing in front and behind him, shaking its head and wagging its tail frantically.
Jiang Wang looked down at it with amusement. “You want to follow me, huh?”
In a stroke of surprising cleverness, Little Grey suddenly stood upright on its hind legs, placing its two front paws on Jiang Wang’s calf, looking up at him with longing.
Whether it was inherently intelligent or whether the Iron Fruit had boosted its spirit, who could say?
“Oh, dog, oh dog.” Jiang Wang chuckled and then sighed, “If you come with me, you’ll have no home to guard anymore. I’m now a man without a home.”
Of course, “without a home” didn’t mean anything so serious. With those friends in Linzi, Zhongxuan Sheng’s control of the situation, Green Sheep Town wasn’t likely to have any major problems.
But for now, he was indeed “exiled,” and it was hard not to feel some melancholy.
Little Grey obviously didn’t understand his words, and even if it did, it would have only been more pleased. No work and guaranteed meals—where else could it find such luck?
Its tail wagged enthusiastically.
Having some pity for this “companion in exile,” Jiang Wang had fed it the Iron Fruit in the first place.
He reached out and, one-handed, effortlessly scooped up Little Grey, then leisurely descended the stairs.
The homeowner, a man in his sixties, was lying in a recliner by the door, basking in the sunlight.
Jiang Wang approached the man before he finally glanced over.
The sight was of a young man in a blue robe, upright and elegant, with a relaxed demeanor reminiscent of an Immortal—such grace unmatched by anyone the elder had ever laid eyes upon.
Jiang Wang raised the puppy in his hand slightly and asked with a grin, “Elder, is this your dog? Could I take it off your hands?”
The elder only then noticed the puppy in Jiang Wang’s grasp.
The pup seemed entirely unperturbed by being carried, its tongue lolling as it wagged its tail enthusiastically.
“It seems to like you very much,” the elder said, waving his hand. “My big dog at home just had a litter not long ago; this one’s the weakest and always bullied by the others. Take it, just treat it well.”
“Thank you greatly.” Jiang Wang said, placing a piece of broken silver on the tea stand beside the recliner. “This is payment for the dog.”
Not that he couldn’t afford to offer more—even Dao Yuan Stones if needed.
But sudden windfalls might not always be blessings.
“This is unnecessary,” the elder said, sitting up at once and pushing back the silver. “It’s just a mongrel; it’s not worth any money.”
“Keep it, elder. Peace of mind is also a form of virtue.” Jiang Wang smiled warmly, turned, and disappeared in a single step.
The elder stared blankly for a moment, then glanced at the silver in his hand, finally certain that this wasn’t some illusion. He had truly encountered a Transcendent Cultivator!
Yet this Transcendent gentleman was completely unlike any of the ones he’d heard of before—the kind he’d once kowtowed to.
…
…
Zhongxuan Sheng was speaking with Jiang Wang in the Taixu Illusion Realm as he himself stood in the Marquis of Ding Yuan Mansion.
The situation wasn’t as carefree as he made it seem to Jiang Wang; it was an incredibly intricate game, with every player inserting their will into it. His wisdom, while considerable, couldn’t dominate the game alone. He was, at best, risking much for modest rewards.
Of course, his uncle, Zhongxuan Chuliang, had always been his pillar of support.
“It looks like he’s unharmed now?” Zhongxuan Chuliang asked.
The man, notorious for his ferocity, now seemed utterly gentle.
His face wore a smile as he reclined in a rocking chair, swaying leisurely, his speech slow and soft.
Who would imagine that such a mild-mannered elder was renowned for his skills as a killer—known as the most adept at killing!
Similarly hefty but slightly bulkier, Zhongxuan Sheng replied, “He should’ve been gravely injured, but he’s safe now. I suggested he avoid returning to Qi Country for now—wander someplace else and return after the dust settles. That way, no one can use him as leverage again.”
Zhongxuan Chuliang nodded and asked, “Does he know the current state of the country? How did he react?”
“I’ve explained it to him. His reaction…” Zhongxuan Sheng chuckled lightly, “Naturally, he’s a bit saddened.”
Zhongxuan Chuliang said flatly, “Such things happened before, happen now, and will still happen in the future. Tell him not to place too much importance on reputation. He’s brilliant at everything, except he’s too constrained in his actions.”
Zhongxuan Sheng shook his head. “It’s not reputation that binds him but his true intentions. He acts because he chooses to. He refuses because he rejects by choice. Pursuit of fame or profit—none of it aligns with what Jiang Wang seeks. What he pursues is a clear conscience.”
He glanced toward the western sky, where dazzling clouds, as red as blood, painted the horizon.
“If one day he believes that no one on this earth deserves to live, that no one in this world is worthy of love… he will become more terrifying than anyone who has ever walked the earth.”
