Chapter 107 107: 107
The ball dropped fast as Haruma sprinted in and prepared to leap, but Kazutora launched himself even higher, flying through the air with his leg raised.Haruma faltered mid-jump, shock flashing across his face. Nagisa froze as well, eyes locked on Kazutora flying high.
Then the contact came.
Kazutora met the ball mid-air, his foot striking it cleanly, disrupting what had been a perfectly weighted pass, killing the chance in an instant.
'Unhuman from Kazutoraaaa!' the commentator roared.
Raya was burning with frustration, Jiho was with clenched teeths, while Izaya watched with a wild yet furious smirk still carved across his face.
The ball shot high from the interception, and before it could even touch the ground, another Tyrant burst in and unleashed a mid-air volley, blasting it back toward the Wolves' net.
Panic erupted across the field as Kabuto sprinted without restraint. Itsuki pushed his body past its limit. Izaya surged forward with that same sharp smirk, charging headlong into the chaos as the ball was tearing toward danger.
Haru and Zora were adjusting their positions keeping their eyes locked onto the incoming ball, but before either could claim it, a Tyrant rose mid-air and sent it onward with a sharp header.
Zora roared and leapt to meet it, only for Yohan to crash into him from the side, shoulder slamming hard as he forced Zora away and claimed the ball for himself.
Haru sprinted in and slid at Yohan's feet, but Yohan reacted instantly, chipping the ball up at the last second, just over from Haru.
The ball dropped inside the box and Yohan reached it first, planting his foot before swinging through with everything he had.
Kabuto came screaming in with a desperate slide, throwing his body at the strike, but he was a fraction too late.
Yohan roared as his foot connected with a thunderous thud, the impact sending a shock through the field itself.
The ball rocketed toward the net.
Kurogami quickly exploded into a full dive, arms stretched wide, catching the shot mid-air, but just as he hit the ground hard, the ball spilled loose from his grasp, rolling back into the box as danger surged again.
Yohan surged in once again and struck through the ball, driving it hard toward the far side of the goal.
Reacting purely on instinct, Kurogami desperately stumbled, forced his body across the line, and threw himself into the dive, arms stretched wide. The ball slammed into his stomach, and he wrapped it tight, folding his arms around it and as he hit the ground, refusing to let it slip free this time.
A single breath swept through the stadium.
Ryusei and Kento sank back into their seats in relief, shoulders finally dropping. On the pitch, Yohan fell to his knees, the fight draining out of him as defeat settled in.
High above, the commentators snapped their eyes to the clock.
90+3.
The commentator exhaled in relief. "That should be it. It looks like this match is heading into extr—" His breath caught.
Eyes widened, locked on the field, disbelief tearing through his voice.
"Kurogaaaaaaami!"
Kurogami was already on his feet, dropping the ball cleanly in front of himself, and preparing to swing his leg for the shot.
The crowd sprang to its feet in unison, bodies leaning forward as breaths caught in their throats. Ryusei and Kento stared wide-eyed. Isamu and the seniors leaned over the balcony as if they might tumble down onto the pitch. Raon and Minato froze, eyes stretched wide, lungs locked tight.
Kurogami swung his foot, striking the ball with everything he had.
The strike boomed, ripping the air apart as his roar thundered across the field.
"Haaaaaruuuuuumaaaaaaa!"
Panic detonated across the pitch. The ball rocketed back toward the opposing net, tearing through open space, and right behind it came a single figure, glowing gold, sprinting without restraint.
It was Haruma Kusaka chasing it down, relentless, unstoppable, as the match hurtled toward its final breath.
A few defenders tried to give chase. Kazutora shouted in frustration and forced himself into a run, but exhaustion betrayed them all. Their sprints slowed, reduced to little more than just a desperate jog.
Kazutora pushed harder, teeth clenched, eyes burning with fury, yet all he could do was watch, as Haruma was vanishing ahead with merciless speed.
The Tyrant goalkeeper broke from his line and sprinted after the ball, boots pounding as he threw everything into the chase. From the opposite side, Haruma kept rushing forward just as hard.
The ball began to drop, falling straight into the space between the goalkeeper and Haruma. Both charging head-on, neither slowing, nor willing to back down.
As the ball began to drop, the goalkeeper clenched his teeth and hurled himself forward, diving hard at Haruma's legs. While Haruma adjusted in a heartbeat, slipping slightly to the left, lifting his right foot to meet the ball mid-air, chipping it clean and high over the charging keeper.
The goalkeeper flew past him.
Haruma surged on, collecting the ball ahead as the net was all opened before his eyes.
"Mother… I'll bring the world to your feet!"
Golden aura exploded around his body as he swung his foot with everything left in him. The volley detonated off his foot, the ball rocketing forward and crashing into the net with violent force, sending a shockwave of chills and goosebumps ripping through the stadium.
The scoreboard flipped to 4–5.
The final whistle screamed.
The stadium erupted. A tidal wave of sound tore through the air as thousands of fans leapt as one, bodies crashing together, the stands shaking under the force of their roar.
'TOKYOOOOOO WIIIIIINS!"'
Haruma stumbled forward with the momentum of the shot before his strength finally gave out. He dropped hard to his knees, hands digging into the grass, head bowed as his lungs dragged in air like fire.
'Harumaaa Kusaka has done the impossible!'
'He has done it… THEY'VE DONE IT!"
"Tokyo Wolves are the champions of U17 JFC 2042!"
The noise didn't fade. It exploded even louder, wilder, uncontrollable. Fans screamed, jumped, cried, and collided in a frenzy of celebration.
Kento and Ryusei had their arms slung around each other's shoulders, bouncing in place as they roared at the top of their lungs with the rest. Mio laughed brightly, jumping again and again, overflowing with energy.
Minato's composure finally broke, emotion swelling as tears gathered in his eyes. Behind him, the benched players burst forward, evading the field from both sides, leaping and shouting as they ran.
Raon, overwhelmed by the moment, dropped to his knees, chest heaving. Minato clenched his fists at his sides in silent triumph, while Raon threw his arms high and roared up at the sky, letting everything out at once.
On the field, Haruma sucked in one breath and surged back to his feet, unleashing a roar that ripped straight out of his chest, raw and feral, charged beyond restraint.
"And THERE IT IS! HARUMA'S ROAR! HE'S ON FIRE!"
The next second, his teammates slammed into him from behind. Bodies crashed together, arms locking tight, voices breaking as tears spilled freely. They crushed him in wild hugs, screaming, laughing, sobbing all at once, the entire squad colliding into a single mass of emotion and triumph.
Haruma's mother sat frozen, eyes wide as wave after wave of emotion crashed through her. Every struggle, every promise, every night of effort and pain of Haruma, all flooded back at once, her chest tightening as pride and relief overwhelmed her.
From their seats, Masaru and Toru were bouncing shoulder to shoulder, laughing and roaring wildly, completely lost in the chaos of celebration. Rukia was on her feet, clapping hard, tears shining in her eyes as a radiant smile spread across her face.
At the sidelines, Shiori remained still. Her hands were pressed to her mouth, tears of joy streaming freely as her gaze stayed locked on Haruma, eyes filled with admiration, warmth, and a quiet, undeniable love.
Isamu laughed openly as he clapped toward the field, his energy infectious. Behind him, the other seniors were fully charged, roaring, laughing, pulling each other into rough, joyful embraces as the victory sank in.
In the VIP box, Shuya was roaring aloud, cheering at the top of his lungs, fists pumping in pure exhilaration. Next to him, Ameha was on her feet, smiling brightly as she clapped overhead, her eyes never leaving the field below.
In the stands, Keiichi remained seated, frozen in place. His eyes were wide, mouth hanging open in sheer disbelief, as if his mind had been blown apart. Around him, his friends were already on their feet, bouncing and shouting, swept up completely in the roaring celebration that filled the stadium.
On the field, the teammates finally loosened their hold on Haruma, laughter spilling out as the charge refused to die. Jiho suddenly leapt once again onto Haruma's back again, arms locking around his neck as he roared straight at the stands.
Kabuto and Haru were yelling at the top of their lungs, fists punching the empty air again and again. Nagisa was just as fired up, roaring with a sharp smirk cutting across his face. Itsuki laughed freely as he carried Izaya on his back, who was shouting and laughing wildly, soaking in the chaos. Raya, drenched in sweat, wore a bright, exhausted smile as he moved through them all, high-fiving, patting backs, and pulling everyone together in pure appreciation.
A brief sigh of relief was finally taken.
It was Kurogami, standing still by the goal, the chaos unfolding ahead of him. His teammates were laughing and celebrating together, the stadium roaring endlessly as fireworks burst high above, painting the night sky in color.
A pure, warm smile formed on Kurogami's face as he watched them, warmth settling into his chest. Slowly, he instinctively turned his head toward the stands.
Amid the sea of cheering fans, he spotted a glowing figure of Kuroto, as he was bouncing, laughing, celebrating with unrestrained joy.
Watching him Kurogami's smile softened further and in an instant tears began to form in his eyes.
Kuroto then stopped bouncing in the stands before turning and looking straight at Kurogami.
Both brothers locked eyes, when Kuroto smiled warmly, and raised a bright thumbs-up toward his big brother.
Kurogami let out a small laugh that quickly broke into a full one, tears began to stream down from his cheeks. He wiped his tears away before slipping off his gloves and setting them gently beside the net, then lifted his gaze to his celebrating teammates.
With a wide smile across his face, he roared and burst into a sprint, leaping high and punching the empty air, laughter spilling out of him as he charged straight toward his team.
The young wolves quickly turned as one, and the instant they saw Kurogami all charged up, sprinting toward them, it hit them all at once. Grins broke out across every face as the entire squad surged forward, laughing and roaring back at their captain, storming toward him and closing the distance quickly.
"Here comes the chief of the pack! The one they could never have won without, Kurogami Shikyo! He's completely fired up!"
"Absolutely! And he deserves every bit of it. What a talent, what a leader. Without question, this is the greatest goalkeeping performance I've ever witnessed!"
As Kurogami reached his team, he leapt high and threw himself straight onto his team. The Wolves roared with laughter and joy, arms wrapping around him as they pulled him into a crushing group hug, smiles everywhere, the team locked together in wild celebration.
'One of the greatest finals to close a record-breaking edition of the U17 JFC. Unforgettable performances. An unforgettable tournament.'
'And without question, this tournament has proven one thing—the future of Japanese football has arrived. These youngsters didn't just play… they have brought the heat back to the Japan Football Federation!'
At the center of the field, the young Tokyo Wolves were still locked in a tight group hug, laughter spilling freely as joy and thrill blended into one overwhelming rush. Hands pounding backs, voices overlapped, and for a moment, nothing else in the world mattered.
