How Did I Become an F1 Driver?

Chapter 976 381: Zhou Guanyu's Hidden Anxiety

Chapter 976 381: Zhou Guanyu's Hidden Anxiety

If there's no contract renewal, Qimeng needs to help Qin Miao find new endorsements.Besides, Qin Miao feels that there aren't many opportunities for him to shine in this Grand Prix; the chance of getting on the podium doesn't seem high, so Qimeng simply didn't come this week.

So, during dinner, it was just Qin Miao and Zhou Guanyu.

When two people dine together, with no outsiders or girls around, the topics become quite casual.

And for some reason, when hanging out with Zhou Guanyu, Leclerc, and those guys, any trivial matter can become a topic of conversation, and it quickly branches into unlimited tangents.

Maybe for the first 10 minutes, they eat and chat about paddock gossip, like who's got a new girlfriend, and then 10 minutes later the topic might shift to whether black stockings or white stockings are better, and after a while, it's about whether the U.S. moon landing actually happened.

As they chat, the topic shifts to their teams.

"Speaking of Alfa Romeo, I'm seriously fed up with these guys. My car has had issues in almost every Grand Prix," Zhou Guanyu naturally started venting to Qin Miao.

Qin Miao took a sip of Coke and calmly said, "It's normal, Ferrari-type teams have these quirks. They might have had a wealthy background, but now they're down and out. No one knows where these quirks developed. When I was at Prema, the car often had various small issues. I've gotten used to it."

"Ah?" Zhou Guanyu looked at Qin Miao with surprise, "Prema's cars had issues? And even with issues, you still raced so fast?"

Qin Miao shrugged and said, "There weren't any major problems. After all, F2 cars are standard, so if there are issues, it's mostly due to the team's maintenance. Back then, I encountered things like screws not tightened, coolant not replaced, or pedals not adjusted properly.

Though not fatal, they could be considered frequent minor mistakes. Luckily, I was skilled enough and had a deep understanding of the car, which allowed me to overcome these challenges."

Zhou Guanyu really wanted to scold Qin Miao for bragging, but given Qin Miao's performance in F2, his comments couldn't really be considered bragging; they were more like statements of fact.

After all, his achievements back then were truly remarkable.

"I know this is clearly you showing off, but I truly have no response to your words," Zhou Guanyu said helplessly.

Qin Miao grinned, "What do you mean? I'm just being truthful, how is this showing off? It's called being honest."

"Let's not talk about it anymore. I just hope the team doesn't mess things up in this race. My starting position is good, and I'm not hoping to advance one or two places; finishing in my current position would be a blessing," Zhou Guanyu moved on to what he worried most about the race.

Qin Miao actually wanted to say that a defining trait of Ferrari-type teams is that they never disappoint when it comes to being disappointing.

Ferrari is like that, Alfa Romeo too, and even Haas carries some of Ferrari's spirit.

But seeing Zhou Guanyu's worried look, Qin Miao could only console him, "Alfa Romeo isn't that dumb; they can't make the same mistake twice. Relax, and just focus on racing."

"I hope so." Zhou Guanyu shook his head.

The two of them then quickly switched to other topics.

When dining with friends, there's no need to beat around the bush; just casual chatting, settle the bill when done, and if there's time, get together to play some games or do something else.

Since both have races tomorrow, after the meal, Zhou Guanyu paid the bill, and then they went their separate ways to rest.
