Chapter 531 531: 529
Memories reawakening?Amidst the green mountains and clear waters, by the side of a mountain stream.
Wu Wang's Avatar lay on a tree branch, listening to the gurgling water below, discussing many things about the little MSG with Zhong Ling in his heart.
Jin Wei's soul was originally a part of Jingwei. Now that Jingwei was deeply mired in a seal, Jin Wei was Jingwei—the active main consciousness of Jingwei during this period. This was different from his Avatar. This Avatar, Wu Wang eventually intended to destroy, or convert into pure energy and reclaim for his main body, thus avoiding confusing his sense of self and leaving himself vulnerable.
And now, Jin Wei had begun to regain her memories; the complete Jingwei was about to return.
"Master, the current situation in the Outer Sky is still unstable. Should we delay for a few more years? Wait until we deal with the problems of the Candle Dragon and Emperor Shun, then let Lady Jingwei's soul return?"
Let nature take its course, Wu Wang conveyed to her mind. We cannot go against her own will.
"Mm, then do I need to guide Lady Jingwei a bit later?" Zhong Ling asked with concern. "As the two sets of memories begin to fuse, there will inevitably be some confusion. This may slightly affect Lady Jingwei's temperament."
"Why do I feel like you care more about little MSG than I do?"
"Hehe," Zhong Ling made a face, then said seriously, "Because on the timeline where I was born, Lady Jingwei was always by your side. My birth was also partly thanks to Lady Jingwei's help."
Wu Wang replied, "Then I'll leave this matter to you. Don't let her feel any distress."
"Didn't you say to let nature take its course...?"
"Hmm?"
"Rest assured, Master! I've got this!" Zhong Ling patted her chest, then disappeared with a flicker.
TSK. Quite a thump.
After resting in this place for half a day, Wu Wang's figure turned into a wisp of smoke. With a slight twist, he had already traveled through layers of Heaven and Earth.
—He was now brazenly using Divine Skills not characteristic of a Martial Artist!
Should I go back and spend more time with her? Such a thought emerged in Wu Wang's mind. He glanced at the plans he had laid out: the ten-year deadline the Candle Dragon had given the Martial God, and the high probability of an impending, premature cataclysm.
Bah, business first.
Wu Wang felt a pang of guilt, but he continued to immerse himself in his Outer Sky arrangements, planting stakes and casting a large net, awaiting the moment to reel it in.
Soon, the time to overthrow the Candle Dragon and welcome back Mother and Jingwei will be here.
Dazzling Divine Light shone in Wu Wang's eyes as he freely traversed Heaven and Earth, stealthily approaching the next Divine Realm.
A Disciple of the Martial God, here to... chat.
...
While Wu Wang was busy promoting 'talk therapy' to thousands of households in the Outer Sky, the Candle Dragon's head had also become quite bustling. Innate Gods were continuously summoned there. However, as if lost in a fog, they had no idea what His Majesty was up to. They were simply asked some strange questions before being sent away.
These strange questions included, but were not limited to:
Have you recently eaten any delicious meals?
What is your view on the position of living beings in Heaven and Earth?
With how many Gods of the opposite sex have you had intimate relations?
And so on.
The Gods also clearly sensed that His Majesty the Candle Dragon's temperament had completely reversed. Gone was his previous violent and overbearing air, replaced by a sixty to seventy percent coldness and chill. It was Emperor Shun himself!
Good heavens, the Gods exclaimed.
Were they no longer worthy of deception, or had the situation reached a point where subterfuge was unnecessary? No one could fathom what Emperor Shun intended to do. But his current arrangements made the Outer Sky Gods extremely tense; they were all convinced Emperor Shun was about to make a significant move.
The most tense place in the entire Outer Sky was, in fact, the Martial God World. The Candle Dragon's threats were gradually taking effect. Within the Martial God World's Eleven Realms, rumors were rampant. Well-informed beings grew anxious, and many wealthy merchants had already chosen to flee to nearby Divine Realms, with the Martial God World authorities offering no obstruction.
Conversely, more and more Martial Artists began to desperately enhance their own strength. Despite announcements from the Martial God World's administrators urging them not to act rashly, this trend swept across all Eleven Realms.
Common folk might not fear death, but Martial Artists would battle Heaven and Earth! Even if the strongest existence in all of Heaven and Earth sought to annihilate their Martial God World, as Martial Artists, they had to fight!
Jin Wei could clearly feel that her teacher, the Goddess of Liuli, had become increasingly worried lately. Her teacher's sighs grew more frequent, every ounce of her Divine Power was being drawn upon, and she would often enter deep meditation, seemingly attempting to deduce Divine Arts.
On this day, Jin Wei stood on the balcony between the Spire Gods, gazing down at the constantly kowtowing beings of the Liuli Realm. Her eyes held a contemplative look, while in her mind flowed the dreams that had grown increasingly frequent lately. In these dreams, a girl named Jingwei experienced two wondrous stories.
Jin Wei had already vaguely sensed something, but she dared not directly confront the most crucial and critical question.
"My Lady," an elderly Priest reminded her gently from the side.
"Mm," Jin Wei nodded softly and took a shallow breath.
She closed her eyes and raised her snow-white arms horizontally. Her form slowly levitated, surrounded by strands of Liuli-colored Divine Light, her long black hair drifting as if in water. She ascended into the sky, her long skirt swaying gently. Then, her vermillion lips parted, and a gentle song spread throughout Liuli City.
The song was merely a chant, yet this enchanting voice contained a kind of magic. It lessened the fear in the hearts of living beings, dispelled most of their unease, and rekindled their hope for life, even alleviating the pain of their illnesses. Floating ethereally, it was as if they had encountered beautiful mermaids in a mist-shrouded water town. In this dreamlike state, beings wished only to immerse themselves in such a song, searching for their heart's utopia.
After the chant concluded, Jin Wei, enveloped in Divine Light, placed a hand on her chest and bowed to the populace below. She then drifted back to the spire's summit. However, the beings below continued to pray, yearning for more blessings. Jin Wei turned her head slightly, her brow furrowing gently. Without saying much, she walked back into the divine hall.
Divine Light flickered, and the figure of the Goddess of Liuli appeared on the throne. Just like the previous day, the Goddess of Liuli's brow carried an unshakeable trace of sorrow.
"Teacher," Jin Wei immediately smiled, her hands clasped before her flat stomach as she stepped forward gracefully. "Has a decision been made?"
The Goddess of Liuli sighed lightly, "The Martial God has tentatively decided on a full-scale migration."
"A mass migration of all living beings?"
Jin Wei tapped her chin, pondered for a moment, then said softly, "But where can we migrate to? How will we break through the Divine Guards' blockade during the process?
"And most importantly, after these beings migrate, how will they survive and settle? How can we ensure that, having left the Martial God World's protection, everyone can survive the supreme expert's onslaught?
"In this Disciple's opinion, it would be better to confront the Candle Dragon directly. If the Martial God can win, everything will turn around. Otherwise, all efforts will be in vain."
"Everyone has considered these questions." The Goddess of Liuli showed a somewhat pleased smile, clearly quite satisfied with her Disciple, Jin Wei.
The Goddess of Liuli said with a smile, "The reason we dare speak of a complete migration of the Eleven Divine Realms is that we have something to rely on. The Water God will use his supreme Divine Skills to transport a landmass here. Everyone just needs to reach the shores of the East Sea and board this land. The current issue is whether the Candle Dragon will launch an assault on the Martial God World before the ten-year agreement expires."
Jin Wei sighed, "That's almost a certainty."
"Alas, while that may be true, we still hope the Candle Dragon will keep its promise," the Goddess of Liuli said softly. "To complete the migration, even with the help of the Martial Artists from the Eleven Realms, it would take at least six or seven years. The Martial God's intention is also quite clear—he's preparing for both eventualities. If the Candle Dragon launches its offensive early, then we'll have no choice but to confront it head-on."
Jin Wei asked, "Have we still not obtained the great formation from the Celestial Court that utilizes the Power of Living Beings to resist powerful enemies?"
"Such a great formation doesn't exist," the Goddess of Liuli replied. "The Heavenly Dao itself is based on the Power of Living Beings; we can't just construct a Heavenly Dao in the Outer Sky."
Then why doesn't the Martial God World directly join the Heavenly Dao? The question rushed to Jin Wei's lips, but she immediately swallowed it back. She couldn't say those words. Even if it was a clear path forward, she couldn't voice it; it was a matter for the Martial God himself to decide.
"Alright," the Goddess of Liuli said gently, "don't worry yourself so much. Come, let me, your teacher, help you with your cultivation. Helping you improve your strength somewhat is also good."
However, Jin Wei smiled and shook her head in refusal. "Teacher, you should conserve your Divine Power, not waste it on this Disciple. Even if this Disciple could advance a few ranks, I wouldn't be able to participate in the core confrontations to come. But you might be able to lend the Martial God a hand."
The Goddess of Liuli blinked. "What did your brother tell you?"
"My brother hasn't told me anything," Jin Wei blinked, strolling to sit beside her teacher. She whispered, "I just realized last time, if the Martial God's Subordinate Gods can transform into Weapons, why can't they become armor?"
The Goddess of Liuli chuckled and chided, "What nonsense are you thinking? I joined the Martial God much later. I'm not like the Sword God and the others who started adventuring with the Martial God long ago."
"Was this Disciple wrong?"
"Oh, you!"
"Ouch!" Jin Wei rubbed her forehead where she'd been tapped, pouting playfully at her teacher. A pleasant atmosphere instantly filled the divine hall.
The Goddess of Liuli asked, "Are you still having those recurring dreams?"
Jin Wei pursed her lips slightly, sighed softly, and leaned against her teacher's legs. "Teacher, this Disciple is somewhat puzzled. Why does the girl in my dreams feel so close to me, and her experiences so familiar?"
"Silly child," the Goddess of Liuli said gently, "did you know that long ago, there was a powerful Divine Spirit in this world named the King of Netherworld, who governed The Dao of Reincarnation?"
"Reincarnation?"
The Goddess of Liuli smiled. "Yes. Your dreams might be of your past life. It's actually not such a big deal."
A past life...? Jin Wei stared blankly, lost in thought, and didn't speak for a long time.
The Goddess of Liuli's gaze was full of affection as she plaited a small braid for Jin Wei, making her look a bit more playful.
Outside the spire, living beings bustled about.
In the great city, beings praying to the sky followed the direction in which the clouds drifted.
In the quiet mountains and fields, a young Martial Artist, running to his next destination, used his footsteps to outline a great formation that would conceal this very sky.
Amidst volcanic clouds, an immense, faintly visible dragon head seemed to be quietly awaiting the arrival of its destiny.
Yet, who knew whose worldly dreams were disturbed, as clouds tumbled into the abyss.
「」
It had been a mere four and a half years since the Candle Dragon announced the ten-year pact. Numerous changes had occurred both within and outside the Martial God World.
Centered around the Martial God and the Water God, a total of thirty-two Innate Gods had stood up to oppose the Candle Dragon's brutal rule, joining the faction openly resisting him. They had effectively boarded the Heavenly Dao's 'pirate ship.' Most of the newly joined Innate Gods had been persuaded by the Martial Artist Qing Shan.
During these brief four and a half years, two more Divine Realms were turned into wastelands overnight. Both were territories of Innate Gods who had allied with the Martial God and Water God, and both were desolate Divine Realms with very few living beings. The Candle Dragon's warning was simple and direct.
The Gods of the Outer Sky now found themselves caught between the two great powers of the Candle Dragon and the Heavenly Dao, trapped in a dilemma and utterly miserable.
The Martial God hadn't slept for over four years, tirelessly rushing about both within and beyond the Martial God World. The first few batches of the old, weak, women, and children had been relocated to the sea. Supported by the Water God's Sea Clan, their immediate survival was not an issue.
However, many more living beings were unwilling to leave the Martial God World. They didn't understand the Candle Dragon's terror. Even though the Martial God personally ordered the relocation, many found it hard to leave their homeland, deciding to live or die with it, to advance or retreat together.
The Martial Artist spirit that the Martial God had always advocated had ironically become the biggest obstacle to the Martial God World's relocation plan. It was rather amusing.
Wu Wang's footsteps had traversed half of the Divine Realms in the Outer Sky. His pursuers had gone from few to many, and then from many to none.
—His elusive whereabouts left even the Strong Gods helpless against him.
Traveling intermittently, Wu Wang thus managed to scatter the Heavenly Dao's 'nails' throughout the Outer Sky, completing his basic layout. During this period, Wu Wang constantly pondered how Emperor Shun would make his move but could never quite figure it out.
Only the spirits knew to what extent Emperor Shun and the Candle Dragon had fused. The current Emperor Shun was perhaps no longer a pure schemer; his composition had become far more complex.
However, just as Wu Wang was rushing towards a distant Divine Realm;
「On the outskirts of the Liuli Realm, in a valley exceedingly familiar to Wu Wang.」
The tranquil and serene village maintained its usual peace. Hunters set out at sunrise, spent several days in the mountain forests, and then returned, shouldering their prey and dragging their weary bodies back to the 'nests' they had painstakingly built over the first half of their lives. Wisps of cooking smoke slowly dispersed as weary birds returned to the forest at sunset.
A few hunters who happened to meet were laughing heartily, recounting their experiences battling fierce beasts in the woods and showing off their sturdy muscles. Occasionally, they would mention Aunt Qing and Uncle Shan, who had gone to a distant, bustling city, wondering if they had children yet.
Today, the village seemed a little unusual. The children didn't rush over to swarm them as usual; instead, they were gathered around an old, abandoned well at the village entrance, peering eagerly inside.
"Hey! What are you looking at?"
"Uncle! Come quick and look!" an older child shouted repeatedly. "This well is spewing out mud—black mud! It's almost up to the brim!"
"Black mud? What would make a well spew out mud?"
Carrying their prey, several hunters hurried over.
「At the same time.」
Within the Great Wilderness World, in the Temple of the Eastern Wilderness's Sun Goddess.
The Sun Goddess stood with her hands tucked into her sleeves. Her expression and gaze were calm, yet beneath that calmness, a hint of hesitation seemed to brew. Below her, dozens of Divine Spirits knelt silently, as if begging for something or awaiting Xihe's command.
An old woman raised her head to glance at Xihe and whispered, "Lady Xihe, the hour... is almost upon us."
"Shut up!" Xihe flared up in anger, her eyes practically shooting fire.
The old woman quickly bowed her head, but more figures looked up at Xihe, their eyes filled with expectation.
Xihe clenched her fists slightly, her lips pressed tightly together. She hissed, "Say no more! Today, no one is to step out of this Temple! Rebel against Heaven? That's just courting death! Why were you all bewitched by that Emperor Shun! He—"
Just then!
A loud, piercing cry suddenly came from outside the Temple. The Sun Goddess shot to her feet, two beams of Divine Light erupting from her eyes.
Her children! Why, oh why, had their auras suddenly surged?
Above the Fusang Divine Wood, the sky, which should have been dimming into dusk, suddenly blazed with brilliant light!
East of the East Sea, ten suns slowly ascended...
The curtain had undeniably been raised!
