Chapter 740 740: World Possessor · Secret of the Heavenly Dao_1

"So, you're telling me you cut the main artery just to graft skin onto a wound on the back of its head?!?"Wang Linchi simply couldn't fathom their line of thinking. Heaven and Man Five Decay had dispatched four of its agents to staunch the wound, yet these five Ancestral Gods were actually using material obtained from that severed artery to perform such an operation! He was utterly flabbergasted.

I'm a bit confused right now... is it me who wants the Chaotic God World to die, or is it you lot?

Wang Linchi now somewhat understood why, when the human body uses fever to kill viruses and bacteria, it can sometimes prove fatal.

These five Ancestral Gods operated on the same principle: they simply wanted to kill the invaders. As for the possibility that they might destroy the Chaotic God World in the process, that wasn't something they could consider.

The end result was that Wang Linchi, the invader, ended up extending the Chaotic God World's life.

He thought, These five absolutely mustn't die. This talent of theirs for making things worse through sheer incompetence... I need to see if it can be extracted. Then I could give it to my enemies and watch them destroy themselves. That was his thinking, at least, though he knew extracting such an "ability" was likely impossible. The primary reason was the information gap. If those five knew their actions had nearly doomed both themselves and the Chaotic God World, they'd be scared senseless.

But isn't there a problem with their ability to receive information? Why didn't they register that their actions were harmful?

Based on the data series from them, those at the Ancestral God Realm possessed a certain empathic connection with the world. However, this connection was incomplete; they only received partial information. Otherwise, they would have immediately realized that severing the main artery wasn't just harming the world—it was courting their own destruction.

Perhaps it's because they themselves are illegitimate?

Wang Linchi had also learned that the Ancestral Gods' attack on the Heavenly Dao had caused the Chaotic World to become comatose. So, in essence, they were illegitimate usurpers. How could they possibly possess complete authority? A portion of that authority must have been damaged when the Heavenly Dao was shattered, and likely a significant portion at that. The authority over rules that the Ancestral Gods obtained couldn't have been much. Wang Linchi estimated it was one ten-thousandth at most.

But this Heavenly Dao is also a huge mess. It's actually not one with the world.

The Heavenly Dao's predecessor was likely a Cultivator who did indeed rule the Chaotic God World. However, they were only at a transitional stage, having merely replaced the 'software' of the Chaotic God World, not yet acquiring the 'hardware'—the world itself.

That's what led to the Chaotic God World becoming vegetative.

If it were Wang Linchi, such a situation wouldn't have occurred. He *is* the world; he can be the Heavenly Dao or even Gaia—they're just different names for the same thing as far as he's concerned.

They achieved it through possession, while I underwent a racial transformation. That's the fundamental difference between them and me.

Possession always comes at a price, especially when one is possessing an entire world. It ultimately led to their own tragedy. However, if they had continued to develop and hadn't suffered that 'main artery severing' incident at the hands of the Green Nether Fairyland, they might indeed have completed the possession given enough time. Even if they couldn't have become as powerful as Wang Linchi, they could have indirectly transformed their race into a world-entity.

Time... is always an enemy, Wang Linchi thought, shaking his head. The word "enough"—he had no idea how long "enough" would be. Perhaps by the time the original world-consciousness had completely dissipated, the possession process still wouldn't be complete. Failing might actually have been for the best, saving them further struggle.

If that entity hadn't died and encountered him now, Wang Linchi would have toyed with it before utterly crushing it. If it had been a case like his own, directly transforming into a world-race, Wang Linchi wouldn't have been very confident. However, since it achieved its state through possession, its comprehensive strength would definitely be weaker than his. Even if he couldn't achieve a complete steamroll, he could still secure a comfortable victory.

Moreover, he was quite curious about the kind of life form that could possess a world and the methods involved. If he could get his hands on that knowledge, he could try to create a splinter of himself to possess other worlds. This method could serve as a covert means of attack when invading worlds. For example, he could first have his Clone infiltrate a world and become its Savior, then, at a critical juncture, betray it and attempt possession. Success wasn't guaranteed, but it would, at the very least, catch the world completely off guard.

I'll just have to search for clues within the Chaotic God World itself, Wang Linchi resolved. He hadn't given up. After all, the Chaotic God World still existed. As long as its history remained, he could unearth some traces. He wasn't demanding much; finding a few fragments of information or even just a general concept would be enough. He could then try to replicate it himself; there was no need to find a complete legacy. Even if he wanted to find a complete legacy, it probably didn't exist. Who would leave behind something like that? Having become the Heavenly Dao, why would that entity pass on such a technique? To let someone else master it through Cultivation, become the new Heavenly Dao, and then kick the original out? Unlikely.

Unless it was someone with a unique system like his own. Even if Wang Linchi gave the History of Time to someone else, they wouldn't be able to cultivate it successfully. Even if they managed to cultivate it, if it didn't prove fatal to its target, it would simply mean the target had an incredibly strong backing; mere resilience wouldn't be enough to withstand it. His own journey to this point had depended on Luck, opportunities, and knowledge—none could be missing. Replicating it was simply impossible.

A slightest misstep can lead to a thousand-mile error.

However, imitating Wang Linchi's *approach* might offer a chance of success. Blindly copying it, though, would undoubtedly lead to death.

Finally, I've arrived, Wang Linchi thought, gazing at the numerous massive golden towers standing on the surface layer of the Chaotic God World in the distance. He had sped up his approach, not continuing at a leisurely pace. The main reason was that those five 'geniuses' had thoroughly spooked him; he was terrified they might pull another one of their 'brilliant' stunts. He knew their plan involved a Four-layered patch, and they had only applied two layers so far. This meant those five still needed to sever the 'main artery' of the Chaotic God World two more times. It was a good thing it was only a Four-layered patch. If even one more layer had been required, they wouldn't have had enough Four Domain Kings to sacrifice for it.

Upon arrival, Wang Linchi directly entered a Merit Gold Crystal Tower.

"Long time no see, Uncle Wang," Hu Da greeted him as usual when Wang Linchi entered.

"I'm alright. Floating around certainly isn't comfortable," Wang Linchi replied, finding a place to sit. Being in the Void is truly taxing. If I couldn't watch the live feed, I'd probably be bored out of my mind.

"I don't quite understand, why don't we just blast through these two layers of protection?" Hu Da asked, his massive form busy operating a vast array of equipment to maintain the entire complex of Merit Gold Crystal Towers and the operations of Heaven and Man Five Decay.

"There's no rush," Wang Linchi said calmly. "I haven't installed my Six Paths of Reincarnation yet. If you were to blast through now, the Chaotic God World would die instantly."

In fact, on the very first day Hu Da arrived leading the Merit Giants, they could have broken through directly, but Wang Linchi had stopped them. The Chaotic God World hadn't been shattered by the World Stone Throw, true, but its own barriers were already severely damaged and extremely fragile. They couldn't have stopped an assault, even with the two 'lower-realm patches' applied by the five Ancestral Gods. Previously, with the first layer, they had even opened a gap themselves to let the Four Domain Kings in to stanch the bleeding, and the patch had nearly collapsed as a result.

"This is taking too long," Hu Da said, shaking his head in dissatisfaction. "If we have to wait for you, Uncle Wang, every time we are Colonizing Worlds, we'll miss out on many good opportunities."

"This time is an experiment; it's different," Wang Linchi replied, unconcerned by Hu Da's dissatisfaction. "Next time, I'll position myself right in the crevices of the world barrier, ensuring I can act immediately." He's my Family, after all. His complaints are for my own good. There's no need to be too harsh.

After being nurtured by Wang Linchi, Hu Da's designated role had always been the commander of Heaven and Man Five Decay. Therefore, he had to consider the overall strategic picture and manage minor developments, so he naturally had reservations about Wang Linchi's dilatory tactics. This was indeed Wang Linchi's fault. This time, it was hard to pass the buck, so he had to bear it himself. Besides, blaming my Family is no different from blaming myself.

"So, what's our next move? Continue to wait?" Hu Da asked.

"We wait," Wang Linchi stated. "I need to send my 'game characters' in to find something for me." His true goal was the secrets of the Heavenly Dao. He certainly wouldn't go in personally. What if it was a trap? After all, his current 'scale' was immense. If 'game characters' could be sent, he'd send them. There was no need to take personal risks unless absolutely necessary. He also didn't need to worry about his own 'unnamable contamination' issue. Everyone present was his Family; not only would they be unaffected, but they would actually be strengthened by it.

Actually, the Six Paths of Reincarnation could also serve as a 'human disguise,' but its quality was too poor, and using it as such would rapidly wear down its durability. It wasn't worth it just for appearances.
