When Danny Ciorrocco and his wife Mindy, opened Rocco’s Pub back in 1980, it seemed like the perfect way to combine two things they loved – having good times with friends and the pursuit of the perfect bowl of chili. But the mysteries of great chili are not so easily discovered, and it took years to develop the secret recipe for Rocco’s Championship Chili by experimenting on friends and patrons of the Pub. “Boy, did they have a great sense of humor!” says Mindy. “But thanks to our good friends and customers, we eventually came up with an award winning bowl of red,” adds Rocco. Over the years, Rocco and his cook-off team have won many awards at chili cook-offs both here in Georgia and across the country. After winning the ICS Georgia State Chili Cook-off, Rocco decided to retire from competition and become the host of the event. Each year, the best chili cooks for hundreds of miles converge on Rocco’s Pub for what some have called Georgia’s Super Bowl of Chili. It’s a great time for the whole family, and all for a good cause: the net proceeds from the event are donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. You’re always welcome at Rocco’s Pub, but when you can’t be there, Rocco has made it possible for you to make your own Rocco’s Championship Chili right in your own home. Keep a few packages of Rocco’s Gourmet Blended Chili Mix in your pantry and you’ll always have a hearty home-cooked meal on hand that’s easily prepared in just a few minutes.
